Each Friday the start of the blog is all about the day of the year, something fun and sometimes interesting, but today I feel too sad to smile and feel anything but fun, as our county lays to rest Jo Cox and Nice mourn for 3 days after last night’s tragedy, you wonder as a human being, why can’t people just get along, to have so much hatred in the world is so upsetting especially when innocent people including children are involved in such an horrendous act that one person has caused. RIP Nice and RIP Jo Cox – Far more Unites us than divides us, I read today and it’s so very true, give someone you love a hug and smile at a stranger, no matter what colour, race or religion, we’re all human beings - there are only two kinds of people in this world, people who want to get along and sadly, people who don’t.

You may have seen it over the last fortnight, Cielo have organised a Crowd funding page to raise money to set up another great coffee shop in Leeds City, Cielo have such a wonderful concept that makes this coffee business more than just a good cuppa. You know how lucky we are to have it all started in Garforth, and as they branch out, they want to reach and help more people. If you can help them get to their £20,000 target by just giving a little, you also come away with some rewards yourself, have a look at their crowd funding page to see how it all works, you only have up to the end of this month, so please, donate and help this great cause #localcharity http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/cielo-coffee-leeds
As my main job is primarily here to help and support local businesses, I love to be able to use those contacts and relationships to cross market within those local companies and when you see it working and how effective it can be, it’s really rewarding. John Harrison our local Artist who in the past has designed all my artwork for The Main Deal including many adverts such as the Fiveraffle and other projects, John is now in talks and works with the lovely owners of the new, Station House Cafe., so watch this space.
Bren Nevison another one of our great local and very talented artists is now selling and showing his artwork in Pride and Produce upstairs, in what appears to now be a little gallery. Bren is selling out quicker than he can paint; it’s all about making the right connections and watching great things grow.
Supporting our local talent is so important and great things can come from it, have a look at John and Bren’s work here
Over the past month, Facebook has been casusing a right headache for business pages; and not for the first time. I am currently not seeing all the pages I follow through The Main Deal page so I am having to go a really long way round in order to see and share. If you too are having problems seeing posts of pages your like through Facebook including notifications from The Main Deal, make sure you are seeing what you want to see, by doing this, on the pages you like
A tweet was going round this week about a man in an American style Sheriffs car, not sure if he was causing a nuisance or having a laugh, did anyone see him?

In the last week there have been a number of incidents in the Garforth area where tradesmen going door to door have agreed to do work and the quality of the work has been very poor or very expensive. Please make your elderly neighbours aware.
Our advice would be to only used tradesmen recommended by friends
I have mentioned before on social media and I please ask again, share with your family who drive. I see it too often driving round Garforth, drivers texting, whether it’s sending a message or changing tunes on their phone, PLEASE STOP, do you know motorists are 23 times more likely to crash if texting – this is why
Please note some of the scenes in this video are quite graphic - but it needs to be watched so you get the true impact of what can happen.
I'm off on Leeds Sky Ride on Sunday, let’s hope the rain stays off and I don’t collide with some safety barrier #familycycle round the city we love
Have a good weekend and be kind to each other and our local businesses
