Happy ‘Nice to hear Main Street was very busy this morning’ Day
Looking forward to seeing if I can work with a new Quirky local business in the next month or so, something a little unique to Garforth, a business from home but may have premises in the future – I'm hoping to be able to shout from the roof tops about this soon.
After several more reviews this week, done so with very little voice due to a lovely dose of Laryngitis; it’s amazing how many people were happy I couldn’t speak! - bit of a problem when it’s a massive part of my job #talking
From all the reviews I have done over the past several weeks, the same issue arises with all businesses, whether it’s a local shop or a local exercise close or local business –
‘We need more consistent customers’
Please pledge to shop in at least one shop, once a week - it takes you to start the trend. A little goes a long way to help keep our businesses local.
Word on the Street #rumours

Planning application went in on 13th May
Change of use of social club to public house (A4); internal and external alterations; creation of external beer garden and associated works
Have a look http://bit.ly/1IFqAFj and see what they are planning.
Yes, there seems to be nowhere to park, perhaps an issue but should you be going to the pub and driving anyway? But there is 20 Full time jobs and 10 part time ones required #silverlining
Main Street Cafe – as previously mentioned the cafe has been accepted by planning for changes, it appears there may not be many internal changes but the cafe will certainly be that of a take away as hours are from 17.00 – 11.30pm Let’s hope it’s a good addition
Great photos coming in for the transition from empty space to St Gemma’s new bigger and better shop - rumours are already rife about no 45 where they are moving from – yet to find out
They need help if you can volunteer?
Not long to go until we will be opening a large new charity shop in Garforth!! We are looking for VOLUNTEERS for this shop. If you can spare a few hours or more please ring Sue Shop Manager on 0113 2875970 for further details.
I have just put an advert in for the great St Benedict’s summer fayre Brochure which will be held on 28th June, 11-1pm. It’s a great local event that happens every year and last year they raised £3,000 towards a new mini bus. Great things can be achieved when people come together.
This week we’ve had 17,123 hits to the website – it’s growing each week. You can help by telling friends and family to use The Main Deal first, for shopping. – keep it local and support your town.
From last week - we’re still needing your help
Can you help, we need community and like minded people who are willing to give up a bit of time to help out at Event times on Garforth Main Street, we only need about 4 people who are willing to help and engage with The Garforth Traders Association, help make our town work when we put on events.
Can you help – we are creating a POM POM Bomb Some lovely local business ladies Debbie Kirkby from Hartleywood Kennels and the local Cielo Knitting group and Debbie Todd from the lovely Angels and Butterflies craft and workshop are creating this fantastic knitting bomb of Pom Pom at the GAF playground party and the Garforth Traders group want to expand onto Main Street with this theme – If you can help, even if it’s just making a few, contact me on Christine@themaindeal.co.uk and find out more here.
