I hope you’ve all had a great Easter Break, I know I did. Much needed family time away. I hope you liked the daily ‘office for today’ pictures?
It’s back to school next week; do you need some new school clothes, pumps or shoes? Don’t forget to visit our local shops, not only does SPT uniform shop sell great branded items but also Dorothy Anne’s who sell great hard wearing school uniform which is good on your pocket too. The school trousers I have bought from here are the only ones that have never worn thin at the knees – move over supermarket promises, DA’s are better and perhaps cheaper – save on the petrol #shoplocal
Also a lot of the primary schools are getting ready for their children going on Residential soon and the lists are endless for what we need them to take. Again, use our local shops for all the items you don’t have- it’s cheaper at Ladycares for all their wash bags and contents as well as DA’s again for clothing items and extra bits n bobs
This week we finally welcome the lovely, Jo Capel from Glam-u-licious to our website, she’s been a busy lady with the takeover of the premises which are opposite the football playing fields on Aberford Road. – if you live in East Garforth, this is perfect for you to visit, literally on your doorstep.
Local businesses need your support, but so do all the local activities and local fitness classes that are also on our doorstep, don’t just presume they will be there forever when you decide you want to return. If they’re committed it’s always good to show you are too. – use them or lose them
Word on the Street #rumours
It sounds as though Scott’s will be leaving us at the end of their lease in the next few months and it will be sad to see them go, they have been in Garforth a long time.
Rumours are, the old Co-op Travel is set to be another, beautician! – waiting on confirmation on this one. We really don’t need any more in the already saturated market; it really wouldn't be fair on the existing beauticians either.
Local Councillors have been doing their rounds on our Streets this week, some aching bones I hear, but we all have to work hard if we want to get to the top!
This week I've held the first of many 3 month reviews, which asks our current members if they are seeing new business for being with us on The Main Deal, are they happy about being with something local that can help promote them in many ways and have them enjoy the networking with Garforth Hour each Tuesday – it takes you, our followers to tell these businesses you if you have seen their offers, news or deals through our pages, whether it be Facebook, Twitter or on our Live board, this way, it helps us grow and the businesses know The Main Deal is helping and the community are interested in what’s going on with Garforth, so please SHOUT and let them know.
As usual, there are always sceptical people who wonder what, The Main Deal is all about and few always have an opinion about what it’s for, what it gains what benefit it has to them and Garforth and what’s it's primarily for. It’s simple. The Main Deal is here to help Garforth Local Business, Garforth Local Activities, Garforth local bands and to get community seeing how great Garforth really is; taking of blinkers, changing perceptions, making people talk positively and giving new life and longevity to our town - IT’S THAT SIMPLE
This week we hit 12,500 hits to our website – it’s growing each week
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth 18 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
