As it's National Fun at Work day!!!........
Yippee Pay day for most, go out spend money locally and let the shops recover as well as yourself.
A fair few meetings this week, lots of talk and writing letters, looking at all the development that will happen in and around Garforth is worrying for all local businesses, even if you’re a loyal customer that shops with them every week and have done for years, will you still be loyal once the likes of Lidl and a possible discount store comes next to it with a family pub?
hope Leeds City Council listen to the objections of many about not making it an out of town place to be to detract business from Main Street, there are thoughts these units could be offices. I agree with new employment, but not to give to one and take off the other.
Garforth Deli coming to Main Street where Scott’s Bakers used to be should soon be getting the keys for the shop in a couple of weeks, I have happily helping them with recommended contractors to help fit out their shop, mostly local of course. I look forward to working with these guys very soon.
You may have seen lots of posts by Meridian Care, Augustus Court; over the last few weeks, they are on countdown to opening, mid February. Lots of great things going on, it looks really modern and geared up in the 21st century world of technology. I’m looking forward to going in next week to see it all and working with their marketing team to get them also looking at using local Garforth produce and local companies, which they seem to be keen to do. It’s all about #crossmarketing. I'll update you next week
#WOTS (Word on the Street)
Local police are annoyed as are local shop keepers about the graffiti that is being bandied about on any space given on our street walls of Main Street The tag is a new tag and the local police are wanting to question anyone who may know who could be behind it. They're confident there may be more than one person behind it all You can report it to the local police should you have any information, it just makes our town look scruffy; I suspect the tagger hasn’t really thought about that!
Our local police are on twitter, give them a follow https://twitter.com/WYP_LeedsOuterE
Keep up to date with what’s going on locally.
Houses being sold in Garforth are going like Hot cakes, which is great, I personally recommend you speak to Claire Errington from Hunters of Garforth even for just advice about the market, but she is selling lots of houses in a week, using shopping local isn’t just about food - get in touch with Claire:

The old B&B, Myrtle House on Wakefield Road has been for sale for quite sometime and I think a steal at the price it's up for, this could be a fabulous house, have a look
Off out for dinner tonight, youngest son’s choice, I may see you out and about, have a good weekend.
If you spend with a local business, that business owner is then able to spend money locally too and so our local economy keeps turning
Until next week......
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth 18 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
