..../// Yes, it’s Morse Code Day and believe it not, back in the day, I used to be a Morse Code competitor, I have certificates to prove it; not that I get them out very often, unless the conversation is really dull! #seacadetdays #dotdotdashdash
It’s been a bit relaxed this week but lots of Admin to catch up on, unfortunately, it’s left my back and neck feeling very stiff after sitting on my office chair for too long. I need a massage. Saying that, Zumba really helped this week, wiggling certainly helps the release of muscles and as always, I slept wonderful that evening… fun and wiggles with lots of giggles and a good night sleep.
So who’s been to the newly taken over, Pride and Produce? I’ve been twice this week already. A stop in on their day of opening for a coffee; a very nice cup it was and yesterday with the Garforth Feastival Team for a catch up and lunch. It was difficult choosing off their new menu everything looked so nice. I chose Curried Cauliflower Lebanese Flat Bread, it was one of the nicest things I have tasted in a long time; it could almost turn you vegetarian - go and pay a visit, it’s got a great menu with a nice choice for little ones too.
Talking of Eating local, I’m off to Cielo tomorrow evening for their by quarterly, Supper Club with Three Sisters. Come to think of it, I’m going all out vegetarian here too, it will be good to see how it compares. Healthy and clean eating, washed down with plenty of Gin…..Oops
As mentioned a week or so ago, there was to be a change of hands/name of a business. No sign up yet, but we see that RK Harris has been taken over by a new owner and they have called it, ‘Five a day’, you can follow them on Facebook.
I look forward to showing you all the great things from Michelle Roberts who runs Savings and Scents, a combination company selling you lovely items and solutions, Michelle is a working from home business. Michelle also runs A friend of a Friend networking group which she started this month. It’s all about connecting the community and have that meet up once a month to see if people can help each other out, community and/or business. I am of course, very much behind this idea and look to help promote and attend this too. The next event is at Cielo on the 18th May at 9.30am – come and join in
Nic Baker who is a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator – you may have seen posts in the past we have shared from, The Station House Café? Nic runs lovely workshops in and around the area for card and craft making
WOW are the only words I can say about our wonderful community spirit. The team of local people Clubs and businesses have really come together to make next Friday’s, Tour De Yorkshire a spectacular event. The shops windows, bikes, bunting, flags, knitted items and extra colourful additions to our street make us look fantastic, and it’s all been created by volunteers. We have to say a big thank you to Dorothy Anne’s, Pease and Cielo too for donating, paint, wood and items to help the community pull some of these things off… Love it when a plan comes together, well done all involved.
There’s always 1 or 2….. whose fingers are on fire for being a laptop warrior on local social media pages about how upset they are over this 1 DAY EVENT, I bet you’re a barrel of laughs at work! Embrace the good, be positive about the new, love change…………………… or perhaps take a holiday to a war torn country, it may be a good change of scenery : ) #happydays #bepositive

I see planning panel have let more development go through in Garforth, again! A house on Wakefield Road is to be re-developed into flats.
Maybe, it’s just me, and this is my opinion of having dealt with planning panel before, but I’m starting to get a little bit paranoid, they’re just letting anything through. Are they using us as a toy in their political game? Many of the Councillors have been spitting and spatting at each other for months, and it is getting a bit tiresome, but it does make you wonder if they are doing things on purpose, we'll soon see if they don't let what we want through! #justsayin
Good luck to the boys from Tudor Sales and Lettings this week as they challenge themselves to the Peaks
“Tudor Sales & Lettings and Tudor Financial Consultants have been working closely with Macmillan and Cancer Research in order to help raise money and awareness.
On the 28th of April Sam Tudor, Ash Proctor & Matty Tudor will be walking the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise as much money for the cancer charities. The target is to raise £1,000 and to complete all three peaks within 12 hours.
With your help, they hope to ensure more people have a chance to beat cancer. Any donation will be very much appreciated, the easiest way to contribute is by clicking on the following link; https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ash-proctor”
Until next week - Be kind with your words
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth 20 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
