We’ve had snow, wind, rain and cold; thankfully January is on its way out. I’m looking forward to spring when we start seeing all the lovely bulbs popping up that Garforth in Bloom have planted; if you want to help or sponsor such a wonderful group, click on their contact details on here under, Local Activities and you too can help towards Garforth looking beautiful.
6 new people jumped on board this week, adding details as we speak. We’ve had 3,540 people to the website and 2 people advertising already - all monies go to, Globe – Not for Profit The Viral video is shaping up; you can be part of it. If you want to be in the viral video, contact me at Christine@themaindeal.co.uk to find out more, it will take a week or two before it goes live – It should be fun It looks good for the Old Libby’s building, contracts soon to be signed and it will be back up and running as something great again. #notapub A great first meeting went ahead with The Traders Group and the money raised from the Fiveraffle held back in November is being spent on Brackets for each shop so Flags, Bunting and Christmas trees and lights can be put up and give Main Street a great atmosphere at event and seasonal times Until next week.............

Another great week - informing people about the new webpage and adding new businesses on. We have 23 businesses in total, and we’re growing each week; these things take time. If you think the site is good, useful and informative; shout about it, you can help too by encouraging friends and family to think local first.
Our local Artist John Harrison; also on here, is drafting up some leaflets for me to hand out to let people know all about the page. A few of us are getting together to finalise our viral advert for the page; something fun that you can watch and maybe join in – watch this space Since April last year I have been working with Chris’ Fruit and Veg shop and talking to the other shops on the parade about the parking issue that has been causing a nightmare for some time on Fairburn Drive. It is now at a stage where we're waiting for a date when parking space, lines can be painted outside the shops along with a time restriction zone, this will hopefully encourage people to park more sensibly and make better use of the spaces that are there. I am also encouraging shop owners to park down the side or at the back (shops owners land) so it frees up as much space for the passing public to use these shops efficiently; we're lucky to still have a parade of shops all open. It has been confirmed; the old Dayspring Church building will become a new Beauty Salon. Great news coming soon – The Bird in Hand #February Until next week............. Wow, what a busy and productive week it’s been.
To date we’ve have had 1,693 visits to this site. Garforth Hour had its busiest night yet since we started back in November and some wonderful connections were made between local companies. 15 Traders and I are attending the training on how to use the new Defribullator unit at Cielo. Once the Training is complete there will be a sticker on each shop window; not sure where I’ll put my sticker with having a virtual shop! The old Day Spring church looks as though the revamp is nearly there. IF planning is right, (waiting confirmation) we’ll have another Beauty salon with 8 treatment rooms. Yes, we do have a fair few beauticians, but don’t complain, spin it on its head; there must be money being spent and it means customers are coming and using other shops. Garforth town won 2-0 this week. They’re a great team and very good footballers; I’ve seen them first hand and I’m no football expert; even though I was born within shouting distance of Anfield, I am no expert, but on skills alone, these guys are good and I feel it’s something we should definitely be supporting in our town #thegoodthings This week, I asked if we created 4 more groups of 10 volunteers that could support Garforth, what would they be, what would you call it and how could they help? This comment had a total reach of 180 people reached but unfortunately no-one replied, or liked - therefore we don't need any, we have enough? If you think you have an idea and have an itch to do some good within your community, contact me by clicking here. Until next week............. Well Hello, Welcome, howdy, how are you, how you doing? Welcome to The Main Deals web page, it’s here! It’s taken 12 months of talking (non stop) to traders and other local businesses and encouraging them to come on board the electronic train; do what they do best, but let everybody else see it from their electronic gadget before they pop along to their shop – and there’s still some work to do. Thankfully Matt from LS25 Web Design has been a Godsend! For those of you don’t know me, I can change my mind about the slightest of thing at the last minute; it has to be right and thankfully Matt had patience and enjoyed our working partnership; so much so, we’re going to carry on working together. My mission with The Main Deal is all about cross marketing our town. Stop people thinking individually, think as a unit, encouraging and give reason for people to shop and think local first. View what’s on offer before stepping over the door, letting people see what great businesses, bands, charities, events, people we have on our doorstep. 2015 is the year we grow, from an idea, to a vision. If you want to help too, you can - My mission statement is; DON’T SIT BACK AND LET THINGS HAPPEN, GO OUT AND HAPPEN TO THINGS This weekly blog will be informal and will tell you about the little factual snippets about our lovely town, things that have been going on in my week, any interesting news I think you will be excited about; not a dog poop campaign in site, just fun stuff that you can’t comment on; because it’s a blog and you have other links for that kinda stuff – links to them are on here too.
It’s been a very busy week, returning to work is always a wrench after spending time with your family, friends and eating copious amounts of Quality Street, Roses, unnecessary stuffed dates and peeled fruit. But also getting Garforth out there, all the plans, ideas over the last 12 months start here; hoping to help get our great town showing itself together Until next week............. |
