La Bella Vita joined us this week and one of our other local pubs will be on next week. I’m hoping to work a bit closer with La Bella Vita with some ideas for using the bar area to everyone’s advantage
Having attended 3 major things this week and having the big mention in the Yorkshire Evening Post, it’s been a very busy but proactive week

I was guest speaker today as Garforth Academy’s Year 12 Assembly, I wanted to see and hear what they thought of our businesses and get them using the website and seeing what's on offer; after all, they're the next generation who are going to need to keep the shopping local, spirit up

Heart Shaped bread from Dumouchel or handmade chocolates, check them out, it’s not too late http://www.dumouchel.co.uk/ - Firths Butchers are offering a 3 course meal this week especially for tomorrow night – Move over M&S...
Garforth Hour News...
It was also said by Karl from Your Move Estate Agents this week that for every house that was put on the Market with him over this next week, he would donate £10 out of his own pocket to a good cause in our community – so think selling locally too – 70 houses should get a good payout! Join us every Tuesday night between 8-9pm it's doing wonders for local businesses.
Also, A Christmas committee has been put together with local Councillors and Garforth & District Lions and us, the general public to discuss future plans for this year’s Christmas Lights event; can we get a Grotto and make more of a Christmas weekend in Garforth Main Street? I’m looking forward to being a voice in this committee whilst promoting the ideas
Last night I attended a meeting at Garforth Academy about, ‘How can Garforth Arts Festival help the people in the community?’ This was an open space meeting which is like no other I have ever been too, there are several discussions throughout the night, 3 sessions of 5 discussion areas and you can go between whichever discussion you think is worthwhile your attention or input; unless you have committed yourself to hold that discussion; of course I had one!
The little group sessions were brilliant, the people in the community who attended were so inspiring about what they wanted to achieve within our community leading up to the Garforth Arts Festival as well as general things we should ALL be doing to help make our town better for all. - #watchthisspace
And last of all – I did mention in my Shout Out last week that, The Good Food Store does great sandwiches!
Is this the back of it; unless it’s done properly and we can all get stuck!
4 new people jumped on board this week. We've had a 4,436 page hit to the website and 2 more people advertising; all monies going to Globe – Not for Profit
Great to see with my own eyes this week, Boutique Beauty back up and running after their horrendous ordeal last August when the torrential rain came in causing chaos to there’s and many other properties. I’m looking forward to attending their launch night very soon. Watch for news
We've also added Garforth Flood Group this week – a great source of information. Click and join their page, see them under Local Activities for all their links
Had some great videos in from businesses for our Viral promotional video, looking forward to putting them altogether to create one great video for you all to share and get Garforth heard and used. Our local musician DayDreamer, Tim Manion is kindly putting the background music together for us as I type. #exciting
So the exciting news from The Bird in Hand is with, Picturehouse Kitchen which launches in the Pub tonight and then on, Just Eat next weekend. It will be great, the burger menu looks fantastic all themed on great films which gives a fun element. I’m going in for a taste soon; I will add the photo or two.
If you're in a business this weekend, let us know by sharing and saying something good about it, let other people see - remember how our parents always taught it was good to share; you still can
Until next week.............
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth nearly 22 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
