New members 2 here 3 to come, new campaigns, red tape organisation for the repair cafe, Feastival and our new jobs page has gone a little mad, with over 1,000 people searching the page and 8 job applications up on our page in the first week, it's proving to be a popular addition to our website. I've also been chasing to add a few more on over the next week; Teaching Position, Retail position, Lorry Drivers and bar staff - let's see if I can get them up and running so you get to see them too - keep looking at our 'Local Jobs' page above.

We have some very talented and creative people in Garforth
NEWS - I see Reeds Rains have departed Main Street, I think, as we have quite a saturated market of Estate Agents in our small town, it is a very hard market to stay at the top, and some do better than others. But as always, I'm already pushing through potential new tenants for the space, that I think will be perfect for that spot #influencer Let's just hope the rates and rent are affordable!

Persimmon Homes gets greenlight for Garforth housing development on appeal
Housebuilder Persimmon Homes has been granted planning consent for a residential scheme in Leeds after appealing the council’s initial decision to reject the development. Planning and environment specialists from Leeds law firm Walker Morris secured the green light on behalf of Persimmon, paving the way for the creation of 290 homes in Garforth. The scheme, which includes the demolition of an existing dwelling on the site, will provide 15% affordable housing and new public open space. As part of the planning consent, Persimmon Homes will contribute towards improvements to local infrastructure, including bus stops and walkways.
Walker Morris partner Richard Sagar acted as an advocate for Persimmon Homes, while director Robert Moore provided legal and specialist strategic advice. Richard said: “We are delighted at the outcome of the appeal and that the Walker Morris team were able to secure planning permission for Persimmon Homes.
“This is the latest in a number of successful planning appeals we have recently achieved for our clients, having secured planning permission for 600 homes for Hallam Land Management last week.”
I’m so glad Walker Morris are celebrating what seems like another success, getting another (going to cause traffic chaos, non-affordable housing, making another town change completely with no schools or doctors provision) development, through appeal!
290 Houses on top of 241 - we once built lego attachments onto Garforth, now we're seeing Duplo pieces being linked on!

5 benefits in finding local people for local jobs:
I read Garforth Train Station Car park had a little disruption this week? Probably prepping for the extension ahead of April
A real shame to hear that Hot Heatz and Kool Treatz is up for sale - a quick sale for £25,000. real sad when a businesses doesn't work out as the owner is a really lovely guy and we've always had really nice food from there.
Right, a busy weekend ahead, a parent roadie tonight, and of course a proud parent, #thomboy has a two paid gigs with Sticks and Stones this weekend, one in Headingly at the Three Horse Shoes; i'm sure they will go down a storm with the local students. on Saturday, they have been invited back to Barnbow Social Club in Crossgates, to support a well known band, Big Mouth. It’s all fun and games, and much better than any Saturday job when I was 13!
Until next week……………… smile at people as you pass, you might make their day.
Winter has arrived, darn! But look at the positives, at least we’re not in Chicago, were it was minus 37 last night nor do we live in Michigan where the fifth largest lake in the world is frozen over, and it’s actually dangerous to talk outside! Imagine, if all of Garforth was silent….!
This week I held another Repair Café meeting in the Library – the lovely Clary from Leeds Repair Café came along and we sat and listened to how they have been running their group, over the past 3 years. They run it every 2 months on a Saturday and it's helped with lots of things. Not only fixing small appliances for example, but connected community, people also come to have a bite to eat, a natter and cuppa. This is mainly what I would like it our Repair Café to be, more than just a quick fix! I now have to go away and check on a few red tape issues, insurances and availability as well as looking to set up a separate, Facebook group to see if we can get you, the local community to come and be one of our volunteers. In order things happen, we need people to come together.
What’s coming up in the Half Term –

It’s getting close. As many of you will know, I have been nominated for 2 awards. To be nominated the third year in the row is awesome, but to win would be incredible, so if you think I deserve those voters, please click away
Wetherspoons have asked for extensions of times, on beer delivery and beer garden, waiting for approval.
