Apologise for last week’s absence from the blog. I think a car crash, a visit to hospital (separate incident) and picking up a courtesy car was all a little too much… Anyway, I’m back for this week, but for this week only until after the half term; I'll be having fun with the #thomboys in good old Whitby.
What do you have planned for the half term? Hopefully these links will help you:

From the 1st November until the 1st January, when shopping at Tesco’s, you will be able to put your blue tokens in our Garforth Feastival box. In order we can make things bigger and better year on year, we need your support, so please, ask for your blue tokens if you don’t automatically get one at the till, and please put them into our Feastival box – First prize is £4,000 – imagine what we could do with this!
We have to thank…. Howden's Kitchens this week for kindly donating £250.00 to next year's #Garfeast too, people are really getting behind, the good of Garforth. The more we receive, the more we can achieve
There are some conversations and posts that should NOT be put on social media.................
Last week, a terrible incident happened in Barclays Bank. A poor elderly man collapsed and died and his wife was injured too as he fell.
This is such a sad story and I was horrified to read people second guessing on social media about how many ambulances and police and first responders were outside and guessing what it was, and then people arguing who was right and wrong and then starting rumours as to what it was or wasn’t……………………..REALLY!
When there’s an array of emergency services, then no second guessing or a conversation should be had, there’s a terrible incident happened, clearly, does it really need a conversation on a gossip page? … I was baffled!
Poor family, does anyone not think of these people FIRST
I am delighted to say....
After the half term holidays, we have a new Guest Blogger joining us, a local business owner will be adding to our blog with their thoughts and prospective on Garforth and a few other topics of their choosing. It will be interesting to read things, perhaps from the other side of the counter?
Have a happy half term and enjoy your little ones whether you’re a parent or a grandparent, they grow so fast and the holidays are over far too quickly.
Getting ready for Halloween - AgeUk were certainly getting their shop in the spirit; but not to every bodies taste as it's now been taken down!
I found it rather amusing, it certainly got people looking into their window #halloweenfun Perhaps a #steptoofar for Garforth?
Until 3rd November..... have a lovely half term
Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no blog this week. sorry, back next week.
A scary time for Las Vegas, this week, there’s only ever one question, WHY… thankfully my husband who was there last week with work, came back on Friday evening. Poor innocent people who were just out having a good time in a fun place. But hey, America won’t do anything about their gun crime! They had one failed shoe bomb attempt and now everyone has to take off their shoes for inspection at the airport, how many massacres shooting have they had over the years? #myopinion
Oh no, Travellers in Garforth, much to everyone’s disgust. It does make me laugh when people accuse them off all sorts when they’ve only just parked up, I do understand the annoyance, but the hatred, it’s a whole other step, I wonder how many people would say to their faces what they say on Social media? When they parked up at Garforth Leisure Centre, I thought they may have been using their Bodyline card ! From time to time, they will pop in, pop up and set up. But we have enough good people in the know, who can soon have them removed. Nice cars they had too !
Please be careful if you’re parking on the estate on Woodlands Drive including all the cul-de-sacs, Permit Parking is now in force and traffic wardens are in operation – the residents are ecstatic!!
Nice to hear our love Chair of Garforth Feastival has already organised and confirmed stalls for our 2018 market – We are changing things a bit next year; for the better of course. The first date of our Feastival week will start on Saturday 14th July showcasing great independent food and drink – the team have plans to let you know about what’s going on in the lead up to this date, so look out, you never know where you will see information popping up. www.garforthfeastival.co.uk
I heard a little bird telling me something will be going on, on Monday in Garforth, early morning and something to do with ITV! #waitandsee
Had a meeting this week with Thierry at Dumouchel, as part of my campaign over the next few weeks to show you how shopping local can be affordable. We are going to run a campaign called, ‘use your loaf’ Thierry and the team will be show casing one of their breads each week over the course of approximately 8 weeks, telling you how their breads are made, what the ingredients are, (no sugar) being one of them and how buying a local loaf can go a long way. So keep your eyes open and, use your loaf
More Dumouchel news............... November, Cookery classes.

Cielo have released another date for their acoustic night, 11th November. Sadly I’m not about for this one. It’s only £5 a ticket and I can personally recommend after attending their first one, it was a really nice evening with good friends, good drink, great music and yummy hot sandwiches – go local
DON'T PANIC Pride and Produce have only temporarily shut their doors for bistro evenings, but we will see them back open in December, here's their Christmas Menu - so get booking in
Information about the proposed outline application, for houses to be built behind Selby Road, opposite The Gaping Goose. I see there are a few objections in already. Should you wish to add yours, please do so asap .
