Well I don't have one; a middle name... I've always liked to be different, what's your's? Are you proud of where your middle name comes from, a grandma or grandma or a football team or place of conception !
What an incredibly busy week #ratherpooped not only finding out about great local things coming to Garforth and I know you will all be pleased, but also working on something separately that will hopefully, fingers crossed, all work out wonderfully for one special person!
Here at The Main Deal I have always believed if you give more you get more good things by return, and as my motto says, don’t let things happen, go out and happen to things... time will tell
We reached in incredible reach on Facebook this week 11,000+ lots of stories, information on local businesses and engaging followers #fabulous. Thank you for showing your interest, you’re helping The Main Deal grow.
Garforth Brass will be at the Welfare Hall tomorrow for a special, 'Learn to Play' day if you're on Facebook, check out the details here https://www.facebook.com/events/1640411006209481/ or online here

A great local event going on with La Bella Vita on Monday 18th April with a special guest from, Le Bon Vin - Patrice Lipatti-Mesme
Last week I took my sweet Mum to trial, Freshly Made and their Afternoon Tea, monthly event. Kate Corner the lovely owner, wanted to trial the idea and see what we thought.
As you will see from the picture it's fabulous. Kate has a room just off the cafe, which is warm and cosy and with the ambient music just gets the atmosphere right. This is no, Oulton Hall champagne affair, but with homemade cakes and scones and yummy sandwiches, plenty of tea and coffee in vintage cups and saucers and cake stands, for £15.00 you get more for your money here. Kate is also going to offer a discount to senior citizens of only £6.00, so if you’re a group or you know of a group of elderly people who would enjoy a day out with their friends, then this would be just lovely. She will also be able to offer private sittings for larger groups, so a good idea if you are wanting to start off here before you go out with the girls or you are a group where you want to hold a meeting together . It’s comfy and set out well and there is plenty of room to park outside too.
Kate’s next event will be on Saturday 9th April, seating is limited to 16 places so book early to avoid disappointment 0113 287 3896 – you can take children over 12 too. #eatlocal
#WOTS (word on the street)
So Netto has pulled out! I got a call from the owner the morning of their announcement, they could no longer spend any more energy on the planning as they would have know from the outset this wasn’t going to be easy, and not because no one wanted a Netto, it was all down to the location.
As much as I have always agreed with the majority of people about the traffic situation, iw ill always think having a supermarket closer to the Main Street would have worked better than the one that is going to be built half a mile away which WILL take business away from our high street.
Garforth Hour Next Tuesday at Augustus Court, Meridian Care Home if you’re a local business and what to join in and also see inside this fabulous new care home, you still have time to register www.themaindeal.co.uk/garforthhour - find out what it’s all about here
GREAT NEW THINGS
As I mentioned earlier, I have been rather busy this week, some of this time spent finding out about great new things. One being Pride and Produce, I’ve been to see inside their new renovated premises, you would not think it was the same place... no resemblance Scott’s The Bakers at all, it will have 27 covers, it sounds as though it’s going to be a fabulous Deli using as many local and Yorkshire products as possible which is very important to the team here at P&P. #watchthisspace as I will be releasing their open day very soon
Dorothy Anne’s have a great new product coming soon; it will save a lot of time for us parent’s #yippee
Rumour has it, a new ‘sophisticated bar’ is opening where the old Indian restaurant (up the stairs) used to be opposite the Medical Centre. No license has been applied for as yet but as soon as I hear anymore about it, I will let you know .
FOR YOUR DIARY – Augustus Court, Meridian Care Home will be having an open Day on Saturday 23rd April, you will be able to go along and see this wonderful place and also listen to Garforth Community Choir sing as well as one of the local dance and theatre schools perform – I will create an event for this very soon.
On Saturday, 2nd April I will be attending the Yorkshire Choice Awards, I will be sharing a table with the lovely staff of Business Works UK and reporting from the inside as to whether one of 5 businesses pick up an award, #mustbuyafrock nominees are;
Business Works UK
Angels and Butterflies
And from Aberford, Ian’s Mobile Farm
