Be kind to people, smile and they will probably smile back, a bit like a yawn, see how far your smile reaches #smilelocal Some more enquiries for membership this week, watch this space – from furniture to Physio I’m lucky in my job that over the last 2 years I have met some amazing people, from local Artists like John Harrison; who I could adopt as my Dad to local business owners who are so passionate about their products and business, to some great young talented people who make up a lot of our local bands that I support on the webpage, dedication and talent in our young people gives you a buzz that not all teenagers should be portrayed in ways they sometimes are. There's a young lady who is only 21 works up to 7 days a week with 2 jobs, one which is her own business, certainly a young person to be inspired by. Local Councillors and PCSO’s and like minded people who all want the best for the place where we live. I also meet and have lots to do with local town councillor support workers, some really do want what’s best for the place we live and the towns we shop. I am lucky to have a good relationship with all my Members and feel they are now friends. Don’t get me wrong, not everybody wants to sing from MY hymn sheet; well besides Garforth Community Choir But I have had to learn to be thick skinned; being a plastic scouser, you’re sort of born with fairly thick-ish skin... Onto the Garforth Community Choir, they really are sounding fabulous, we now have 29 members singing – and you can hear them on Garforth Lights Switch on, from about 3pm outside Dorothy Annes – come and have a listen for yourself. The FIVERAFFLE starts tomorrow – please buy your tickets 5 tickets for £5; but you can buy 1 if you wish. All monies raised goes back into our street. Look out for little festive trees in windows this year which is where last years Fiveraffle money went, to make our shops a little more Christmassy. We were looking at trees on brackets, but at £190 per shop, we needed to have a fair few raffles before that can happen.... maybe a large local business would fund it?! #ginetta Support the town you live in, spend an extra £5 in your High Street, put your money where your house is, and support your local economy and WIN 1 massive prize - move over The Gadget Show. #WOTS (word on the street) In planning this week; Independent Vet Care Group are hopefully moving to Fusion Court (The new business park near Toll Bar garage) The application has been approved for Genix to expand – watch this space as the old Habits building gets a new facelift The Development of 11 Apartments on Lidgett Lane opposite The Library is still pending consideration – a fair few objections I would think with this area being a high risk flood area. It seemed to have gone quiet on the Netto Front at the top of Garforth. After rumours of Miami becoming a possible Lidl and other outlets; had they decided to pull out or push forward? I’d chased the main man from Sainsbury’s about the next meeting date, but it all went quiet, until last night when i received a letter about the next meeting AT CIELO - 25th November - 6pm - NETTO PLANNING MEETING Wetherspoons now in a little dispute over the size of its beer garden(s) – not sure we’ll see it this side of 2015 – but you never know The website is now well over the 43,000 mark this week, will we get to 50,000 hits before our first year ends – 9th January 2016? Keep following and sharing and let other people see what’s local BUY LOCAL OR BYE LOCAL #GARFORTH
