National, Mickey Mouse Day! Why does he get a day? I'm not really a fan of the old MM or anything Disney for that matter, especially the man dressed up in the suit version, squeaky annoying voice puts me off! How did you Get Minnie, Mickey I’ll never know! Weeks seem to be flying by, and there are lots of excited people counting down to Christmas already, as much as I do get giddy about Christmas, I have to wait until at least the 1st December....! However, I do practice with Mulled wine, Port and hot Camembert before then! Just in the run up to the 1st. As I type I'm listening to the lovely Rehearsals from this week's choir practice; they're Christmas singing do put you in a good mood, especially as it's so unbelievable yucky out side... who ordered the wet rain, dark clouds and cold?! You can see the list of all their up and coming gigs here, some are right here on our doorstep - http://www.themaindeal.co.uk/garforth-community-choir.html They have one tonight if you're popping anywhere for a drink, go to The Bird in Hand 18/11/16 Friday Gig @ Bird in Hand Pub I met with the lovely Emma from East Garforth Primary Academy's PTA today a really lovely lady with great plans, passionate and extremely proactive about the school and telling me all about their fabulous new team there too. You will definitively be seeing more posts from them as they share to the community from their Christmas Fair to lots more happening in 2017 #MIG Here is a MIG (Mum in Garforth) as promised in earlier blogs, Christine is going to be guest blogging for all you new Mums out there who find yourself in a new chapter in your life; home with a new born Hello, I’m Christine. You may remember me from my guest blog post in the summer. I was pregnant at the time, now I’m the proud mum of my two-and-a-half month old bundle of love and trouble, Tommy. I’ll be blogging about my experience of being a new mum and what’s happening in and around Garforth. I’d like to create a space to share what’s happening in our community, not just for new mums – I want to help Garforth become more connected. You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on @garforthkitchen. Why Garforth Kitchen? Because at our house, the kitchen is the room we spend the most time in together. It’s where we cook, eat, drink, listen to music, dance, laugh and have our best conversations. Pedal Power Since having Tommy, I’ve put on my trainers and hit the pavement more than ever before. It’s been a great way of easing back into exercise and getting him some fresh air. We go out in the pushchair, or if I’m feeling more energetic, I carry him in the baby carrier. We’ve had a lovely Autumn so far. We had a nice walk in Temple Newsam to check out the pretty colours, and we’ve been all over Garforth (even in the snow). Sometimes we go out with a destination in mind (like visiting the new Garforth Garden Centre, going to Main Street to grab a panini from the Good Food Store or buy fruit and veg from the Greengrocer), sometimes we just go for a wander. I’ve come to appreciate how big Garforth is! I dusted off my pedometer last week and aiming to get over 5,000 steps a day (I managed 10,000 in a big walk the other day). Where are your favourite places to walk around Garforth? Tell me on Facebook or Twitter, and keep an eye out for us walking around town! You could even join us for a stroll.
