Welcome back, and welcome the sun, what a fabulous few days it has been, oh, how we've missed you, Mr Sunshine. Now, nobody complain, it was only a few weeks ago, we had snow and I know, it was Easter Monday and I travelled back on the A66 in thick SNOW.
A busy week back for most with the kids being back? For me, several meetings this week, 2 new members, a hospital visit (unplanned) and a table delivery to be up cycled, it’s definitely felt, back to it.
One of my lovely meetings this week, was with the lovely ladies at Buttercrumble, who are, our local designers and illustrators. The Main Deal needs a little re-branding and I think these are the fun and clever ladies who can give me what I want – a fun and positive fresh new look #watchthispace
Next week, you may see myself and a few of the other Feastival Team members putting up and handing out posters for the up and coming Feastival, on the 14th July. Make sure it’s in your diary, and let’s hope the weather is kind as we have lots of wonderful food and drink offerings and some fantastic talent both day and night – Remember you can now buy your, Later Live tickets for Quirky at Quirky and Cielo and they’re only £9.50 a ticket.
Introducing our new members this week

This small business was formed last year and they are going from strength to strength due to their team work, efficiency, affordability and most importantly their great work ethic. I’m looking forward to introducing you to a man called, Adam Levine. Adam spends most of his day in a Wheelchair and he’s just started to write a blog about his travels, and how he gets about in and around Leeds. I have invited Adam over to see how he finds Garforth – I look forward to his Blog next week.
I see Garforth Garden Centre have plans to Change of use of ancillary storage building (old cafe) to form separate retail unit for fish and aquatic sales (Use Class A1) and alterations to window and door openings. - so now train shed as initially rumoured last year !
It looks like a new Microbar has also put in an application - interesting! Is our night time offering growing?
You may have seen RK Harris has removed its sign? There are changes coming, but information is still yet to be released on the new owners. It will remain as a Fruit and Veg shop.
As mentioned a few times on social media over the last two weeks, Heers Convenience store is up for sale. At £240k I think it’s a fair price as it also includes the flat above. It’s now out in the public domain for all to see. Personally I think this would make a great Deli, selling local produce, fruit & veg, good quality convenience food, local bread and beers etc. as well as a sweet offering for all the pupils that stop in for their daily sugar fix! I think with the new housing estate coming along, and this being the nearest shop, I think it would make a great investment.

I see there are plans on the Junction of Leeds Road onto Selby Road to introduce Traffic signals. Something I feel we have needed for a long time. It does become very difficult to get out of Leeds Road and when people get impatient, accidents happen. So I am one person who is glad these are happening. Works are due to start next month.
Be kind, you'll be amazed how it can make people feel
Until next week................
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth nearly 22 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
