Today It's national Public Service Day thank you to all those who chose a job for us, everybody else, no matter what status we are, we're grateful.
Wow what a heatwave we’ve had!!!! In London……. The UK is bigger than you think
To be fair, I did say last week it would be nice to have some nice news, and London needed something good, so fair play, the weather it was.
As thunder showers are forecast, please say it’s not the end of our summer………..please
Doing too many things this week
Knotting! Painting, Putting up numbers, helping ‘where I can’ sort out a feastival, moving office, meetings, – drinking gin – there has to be a middle somewhere! Zumba, school runs, after school clubs, accounts, watching #thomboy in music concert; #proudparents moment. Clinic visit, posting, sharing, shouting….Oh and I did eat a bit….
What has your week been like?
FEASTIVAL - follow the website for all the information you will need.
www.garforthfeastival.co.uk - 15th July is coming #roundthecorner
Look what is coming to a hand, mouth, window near you
With much determination….. our first every #fEAsTival is on its way
Good Old Garforth Rumours.......
They always make me laugh; well, you do have to have a giggle throughout your working week.
A multi storey car park on Main Street
And Wetherspoons is getting a music licence (it’s not, the manager has confirmed)
Is it a case of a couple of conversations and people make up what they will; I’m thinking this is how the a story starts
Gary “So, have you been to Wetherspoons of late?”
Dorothy “No, not for a while, I’ve been trying other eateries for a change, they have music”
Gary “Do you not like Wetherspoons any more then?’
Dorothy “Oh no, it’s fine, a great new pub, but our Eateries have music and a license now and I can pop on the bus and not have to park, with it sometimes being busy and I can have a drink”
1 week later
Rumour 1 - We’re getting a multi-storey car park; people are getting busses!
Rumour 2 - Weatherspoon’s needs an atmosphere, therefore it’s changing all its policies and becoming a Lloyd's branch and changing its laws; overnight
Laugh, don’t start a rumour unless you know the facts; it only gives a 720,000 thread of comments on other social media pages – good advertising though!
MIG (Mum in Garforth)
What strikes me when I’m out and about in Garforth is the amount of parents and children I see of all ages - there are so many families living in the area.
Ten months into the role of Mum, I’m still pretty new to the job. I know about a lot about groups and activities for babies and toddlers, but this is only one slice of what’s on offer in Garforth for families.
It would be great to get some other perspectives on family life in Garforth; that’s why for the first week of the month, I want to invite other Mums (or Dads!) to take over the Mum in Garforth Twitter account, similar to People of Leeds, and tell us about what’s happening with you.
Want to be part of the takeover? Email me at email@example.com and we’ll have a chat. First Guest MIG coming soon!
Find me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @mumingarforth.
Until next week,
We have the Garforth Flood Support Group Coffee Morning, on Saturday at The Welfare Hal
This Sunday is our favourite, good old well established, Car Boot and Gala Day with Garforth District Lions, thanks to these people it’s still going strong.
Look out particular for the Garforth WI, The Garforth Neighbourhood Planning team and The beautiful voices of Garforth Community Choir; some cracking new tunes.
On Sunday after the Gala, there is this fab event being supported by Garforth Brass Band, want to join in, ring Christine 07942 312 789

After a long time someone, it seems someone may have bought Myrtle House to renovate it back into a home!
You can always look in planning, it’s all there for public to see, just copy and paste the linkhttps://publicaccess.leeds.gov.uk
It may help stop some of the rumours!
I am currently creating a #smilewall of pictures; and a few dogs have been added too, oh and a goat! So far we have 25 smiley faces and I would like to create a wall of local smiles and have it up somewhere local, if you’re a local person who loves to live and shop local, smile, it actually makes people smile back – send me yours to firstname.lastname@example.org
Until next week……
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth nearly 22 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
