What a lovely few weeks it has been, good times, good weather and we've decided to become dog owners! A lot can happen in a few short weeks! But the Main Deal's dog companion won't be joining us until later on in the year... wait and see #fluffball
We've been fairly busy over the last few weeks, sorting out bits and bobs, getting all of those jobs in the house done that you have a forever ending list of, as well as popping into the office from time to time and checking the on goings of our Garforth world.
We welcome new members
Helen Cooper from Tropic, a local Tropic Ambassador who has been an ambassador for some years and is also now recruiting if you have a look at our jobs board. https://www.themaindeal.co.uk/make-me-beautiful.html
We also welcome, Jennifer Rose Photography – Jenny specialises in Wedding photography and has been privileged to take most of her wedding pictures up in Cumbria and Northumberland where she is from, Jenny moved to Garforth in 2017 and is now looking at making her photography business, full time – check out all her details here https://www.themaindeal.co.uk/businesses-that-could-benefit-me.html

The Repair Café now has a Facebook page
We have had lots of people following over the last week and our lovely volunteer Alistair has put some great information up on there about what a repair café is, and what we’re proposing to do
In other news
it was nice to hear that after local fund raising on Just Giving – Sticks and Stones band have been in the studio and recorded their first EP – the first song was released to them yesterday, and on first draft, it sounds pretty cool #notbiasedatall #localbands
I am hearing Reeds Rains old premises have had an offer; but not for what I wanted it for! Also, Sugarcraft’s old premises have also had an offer that's been accepted! Watch this space for new businesses moving in.
Unfortunately, Greggs are set to move into the premises near Home Bargains. Not that there’s anything in planning but the advertising for jobs gives it away, opening July!
But good news, a new independent company has put in an application to bring a cocktail/tapas bar to Stephen Pressley's old premises; yes it's all change, as an orthodontist originally had planning to move in; well not for this shop - I am meeting the potential new owners in May, and look forward to hearing their plans.
The weather may not be as good as last weekend, a bit wet tomorrow, but it’s looking drier if a little overcast, on Sunday.
Have a great weekend and see how you could up-cycle something this weekend! #reuse #lesswaste
Until next week…
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth nearly 22 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
