Well I returned in one piece from my long weekend steering a boat down the chirk canal in Llangollen for nearly 3 hours - sometimes only a smile will get you through; oh and food and a glass of Prosecco! Apologies for the lack of shares on Sunday, wooden lodges in the middle of nowhere don't seem to favour wifi, 4G, 3G or even E for edge - and I wasn't climbing trees for signal! How did we get to October? In fact how did we get to Friday? I'm not complaining of course, Friday is a goooood day, but this week seems to have disappeared into the air of thin! I will be looking forward to my husband returning this week from his busman's holiday in Gibraltar; monkeying around! Well, what a busy week of new members it's been. This week we welcome Beyond Inspired, great local classes for educating children in fitness and health. Bumps and Babes - two great specialist midwives educating expectant mums along with mummy classes and aqua natal classes, locally in Garforth. Mia's Nail Salon, a new addition to Main Street, hoping to capture you and nails into the salon. Kip McGrath all about helping our children in further tuition in Maths and English and The Beauty Corner, who have just taken over Glam-u-licious on Aberford Road next to the great little cafe Freshly Made who will also be on here soon too. - It's great to have new members as it helps build the website and let's you see what's on offer locally.... it's amazing what Garforth offers, just have a closer look I have meeting with The Gaping Goose next week; I think Diane liked the idea Harry Gration was in her pub last week! I've had a lovely invitation email this morning from The Arabian Horse in Aberford; I'm looking forward to tasting their Breakfast offer very soon. I've had lots of existing businesses come to me this week asking about alternative premises. It's a shame Garforth is so ridiculously expensive in rates and rent.... I know we're not the only high street that pays through the nose, but it would probably be a good idea for a group of people to get together, including local influential people to shout about it. I've tried shouting, but me on my own isn't loud enough; some of you may disagree. It's a force that's needed Anyone want to start a force? Anyway, if you know of a small office, a space for a church or a room with a few individual rooms attached to rent, let me know Word On The Street I see a lot of people kicked off on social media about The Garforth District Lions Bonfire evening being on Halloween this year. Hey, don't you think they thought they same as you, don't you think they thought it might be a problem too sharing woo's with argh's? Don't you think they may have limited days? Sometimes thinking before you rant may have saved the Lions pulling the original post down. They are great group of people who have been dedicated to Garforth and District, some of them for years and years and we shouldn't really give them a hard time about something they do for free... yeah, sometimes things don't always go our way.... but as I know, trying to please everybody just makes you fail in what you're trying to achieve. Go Oooo and ahhh and Grrrr all in one night, collect sweets earlier then go to the bonfire and then come back and collect some more sweets Genix application for changing old Habits building is still under, planning in consideration. Over the next month I will be working with Ladycares bring you weekly offers you can only get to know about if you follow The Main Deal, so keep an eye out each week for what offers you can get. - This week, if you purchase 2 or more £1.19 Astonish products for £1 Here's our great new logo for Garforth Community Choir which starts in the next week or two - there is still time to join, have a look at the link to find out how. Designed by the wonderfully talented John Harrison of John Harrison's Artwork right here in Garforth http://www.themaindeal.co.uk/garforth-community-choir.html People sometimes ask me what else I do for a job..... this is my job, full time, all the time, 7 days a week....
.. This week has seen the website reach 38,000 hits since January and as usual Facebook and Twitter have been busy - I'm now finding influential tweets are helping guide people to the website too. Next Garforth Hour Live will be held at Garforth Town Football Club on Tuesday 2nd December - If you're a local business, come and join in and subscribe to this great free event. http://www.themaindeal.co.uk/garforth-hour.html Until next week PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR HOUSE......
