The best smile is the one you pass on #worldsmileday
What a night last night, seeing the beautiful Kylie Minogue, pop princess at The First Direct arena, She’s so dinky and lovely, almost perfect. The list of songs she sang spanned over her 30 year career and they were brilliant, I don’t think she has ever done a bad song. There was so much sparkle, glitter and big heels, from men and women; it was maervellous. #camptastic
So The Fly Line opened this week for a hearty pub meal; if you like most things with chips!
A few people have popped in to the lovely welcome, nice decoration and comfort of our 10th pub in town. 10 now on the list, but I suspect this one might not reach the Garforth Gallon as it seems more of a place to pop in for tea or a Sunday lunch.
New member - We will be welcoming the lovely, Marie of Behold Me Aesthetics – Maria is a qualified nurse who still works one day a week in the ITU unit in hospital as well as now setting herself up in Garforth, above Tegan Hair Salon at the top of Town end, Wakefield Road. Her studios are lovely and I am looking forward to showing you them next week when she's all set up on the website. Maria offers non-surgical enhancements and skincare. Have a look at her website www.beholdme.co.uk for more details.
FREE FIRST AID with Tony Clough
Great to hear the free sessions Tony is doing for Paediatric Resuscitation in our local primary's are now under way with this week’s first fully booked session, at Green Lane Primary – We are still waiting for one more school to get back to us and then we can get all schools covered. This training has prompted our local schools to get their AED plans back up and running and pushing for their Defibrillators to be outside school gates, which will mean, you the community will be able to use them too, should the need ever arise.
Going back last year I contacted Nick Borras of LCC Highways about the carnage that is, Church Lane, last year, this is what he had to say,
“We have previously been looking at introducing a mixture of resident permit parking and double yellow lines as part of a Garforth wide traffic regulation order, to regulate the parking along Church Lane, however after fully consulting the residents and formally advertising the draft parking proposals, we received numerous objections. After receiving and considering the various objections, a decision was taken to abandon the proposals for Church Lane, and proceed with implementing the remainder of the area wide scheme.”
On seeing even more traffic issues and over spill from the Doctors and tradesman parking in awkward spots, it’s now causing even more near missus, sharpness of breath and near scrapes and shouts and frustrated drivers. Plenty of people who report the chaos it’s causing have wonderful ideas, as to how we could go about the changes needed on Church Lane, but as above, it needs to be right for all, and I suspect the council have even less money than last year. I have emailed Nick again this week to see if any more ideas have been put forward and just mentioned the 241 houses, many families, more kids and lots more cars on the way; I’ll let you know if I get a reply
Leeds Road - Road Closure - Sunday 7th October
The road will be closed from 9am – 5pm, local access will be maintained at all times. The road will be closed to enable installation of the road crossing. Diversions will be in place for this time.
I will be glad when this week is over, It’s been a very long week, I’ve been out every night except Tuesday evening, some nights of fun, some not so. I’ve come to release I cannot burn the candle at both ends, no matter how much I try. Right I’m now off to Baildon to take band members of Sticks and Stones for yet, another gig. I may fall asleep in a corner, even with their loud tunes.
Until next week.......
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth 20 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
