As you will see on our website this week, Garforth Golf Range, Biking-Fix, Hair by Lynsey and 2 local bands, Stripped Back and Kirsty White Music have joined us as well as Garforth Amateur Dramatics. Glam-u-licious will be on our page very soon
I've had a very busy week this week, as well as adding on new businesses and bands, I also held the first Garforth Hour Live Night at the wonderful La Bella Vita on Tuesday. What a great success, I had some wonderful local businesses attend who have been tweeting together over the past several months including our local Councillor, Mark Dobson and the very talented Lee Mitchell from LX-Creative who kindly took some pictures which we will see very soon. La Bella Vita, as usual, pulled out all the stops and made us all feel very welcome, serving delicious canapés, both hot and cold and did everything to support our night – Thank you to Eren and the team.
Our next Garforth Hour Live will be held on 30th June – Venue To Be Confirmed (but it could be very exciting)
Word on the Street
The renovation of the old council block opposite the library is set to be a Mini Mart, plus apartments above. So far, I think they're doing a great job of making it look a lot more attractive and it can only look so much better when they have finished with the renovation works
Notices went up on Libby’s old building this week about Parking and the penalty notices they will issue should they park after the 30th March – so be mindful; it seems whoever put up the sign needed a lesson or two in English literature!
After much delay it shouldn't be too long now before the much needed white lines and restriction signs go in/up on Fairburn Drive. I have ‘managed ‘to encourage local shop owners to park elsewhere in order to stop the loss of footfall for these shops. We need to use them or we will lose them and I am working hard to make it easier and more manageable.
I hope you liked the viral advert that went out last week, it has been very well received and I've had really good feedback back especially about the young talented man behind the music, Tim Manion from Daydreamer – a talent that will certainly take him far; remember we heard him first – he’s a good Garfonian.
I enjoyed the first CCC meeting in Cielo last Friday - Coffee, Chat and Catch-up - it was nice to see a few faces, but hopefully my big new sign will bring in a few more people to come and have a chat about The Main Deal at our next CCC event on Friday 24th April
Just think about your local businesses first, if you look online to get a good deal or compare prices, remember, most of our local shops are online too, so try them first. If you want other businesses to come, you need to shop with what’s already there now, #createabuzz
Until next time..... Friday 26th April
My name is Christine Thom, I came to live in Garforth 20 years ago; you may have seen me around ?
