Lots of reviews booked in before Christmas, this is the part of my job I love, chatting with member and helping them to understand by also showing them how to get more out of their business by using the thing everybody else’s uses every day; social media and the internet.
I hold most of my meetings in Cielo. 1, it’s a little quieter upstairs and the seats are very comfy, you can hold a conversation and not disturb anyone else. 2. Any profits made by Cielo goes back into the community, so every time I bring someone in, I’m helping contribute to that fund.
It’s been an up and down week, this week, as many of you will know and understand owning your business there are lots of times you have to do things you really don’t like doing #awkward
I had a great meeting with Fiona from Leeds Libraries this week about how The Main Deal can show you, the community more of what goes on and what they do, how we can support them through technology why they get themselves out there with social media
What they do have which I never knew about; and I’m a regular library user. But they have this fabulous APP and you can download it for free, you can reserve a book, download eBooks for free, scan a barcode on any title and see if you can borrow it rather than buy it and lots more including events, opening times. Just type in LEEDS LIBRARIES in the search box.
Also moving with the times of technology, the Library will soon have something fabulous; the library staff are currently testing it first – it’s a fantastic Free Emagazine service, so you will be able to download them to your laptop, PC, Smartphone or Tablet, read them, keep them for free, no return date, no fines! HOW FANTASTIC is this going to be? #keepyoureyespeeled for further information about it in 2016.
Fiveraffle – funds raised
We had confirmation of monies raised through Fiveraffle; considering we had less time to sell tickets this year, just 2 weeks. We still managed to raise £400 that goes back into Main Street. As you will have noticed last year’s funds went to all the lovely little trees you will see inside shop windows making Main Street and some of the other shops round and about, look a little bit more Christmassy; On behalf of the Traders Association, thank you for your support, Garforth
#WOTS (word On the Street)
It has been confirmed that Klondyke are re-building a Garden Centre at the top of The Cliff, which is fabulous news. After a fair few months of worry and rumour about the land being used for houses, it’s nice to know that they were, just rumours.
After the umpteenth time this year of being at a standstill on Church Lane, I have sent an email to Highways at Leeds City Council, asking if there are any further developments as to what their plans are for this Road as earlier in the year I was told they were looking into it but no plan to a solution had yet, been made.
As I mentioned on an earlier blog, we all just need to be patient until this problem is rectified as everybody gets annoyed with it, buses, residents, people just using it to get to and from Main Street, there’s no-one to blame, we just need to get through it; literally until a plan has been made… I will keep you up to date with any progress

The website has been busy this week, we’re nearly at 47,000 hits to date, so it’s looking good for the big 50,000 in January when The Main Deal gets a facelift #fingerscrossed
Both the Facebook and Twitter pages have also been very busy, I hope you’ve been liking my daily #adventcalender posts? Facebook this week has had a 6,803 weekly hit and Twitter has had 16,009 impressions
