Schools are out for summer; well most have been out for a while… an ending like no other!
It’s the end of year 6 for my youngest Thomboy, if you listened to my Vlog this week, then you already know he’s become a Covid victim, yes, it does make him feel like a victim because it wasn’t his fault. It’s more annoying and was so avoidable. My son has missed his last week of primary, and the celebrations, which he should have been enjoying today and tonight! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not annoyed, I’m really angry. Seeing your child so upset, crying and sobbing and you’re not able to give him the hugs he needs, because you may also become a victim, as parents it’s an extremely hard thing to do, keeping your children safe in your arms is the most natural thing to do, but Covid doesn’t see it that way. My eldest Thomboy left his year quickly too, so he has also missed his yearly farewells, it’s all just a bit unfair on kids. Trying to find the positives this week has been difficult, and doing them through gritted teeth, at least now my youngest has had the virus, and he has been safe with it, like many other children, he has only had mild symptoms. It also shows, if you’re going to get it, it will most likely show its ugly head around the 3-5-day incubation period, and not the 10 days! I could go on….

Summer holidays are here, and many people need it, especially the Teachers who have been so amazing throughout. August is generally a quiet month for local high streets as most people take their annual breaks. Even though many are not flying away, many are still escaping the 4 walls of their home to a cottage, a caravan, or a tent. Just a few ideas to get thinking about who to order from, keep spending your money locally, it’s what you tend to do when you’re away, in a village you’re staying, so do it when you’re home too
