Happy Friday, I hope you’ve had a good week?

Step down from yourself – rude

As mentioned in this week’s Vlog https://www.instagram.com/tv/CdsiFdzNtwF/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link I follow many platforms to see what’s going on locally and share anything relevant or of importance going on in our area.  I am also very mindful about what I share, and make sure it’s nothing inappropriate or a post where people feel they can create a thread of opinions or discussion.; I turn that nonsense off.  However, as you will hear in my Vlog this week, there are times when there are some things that just get my goat, and unfortunately, its people, especially those who feel they can attack innocent human beings with added racism.  I truly don’t understand racism, I don’t understand why we still have groups or individuals feeling superior because they are white!  There have been a few incidents in our local town of people taking it upon themselves to visit or record on YouTube their disgust about refugees being in our hotels, this makes my blood boil, and this kind of ignorant and arrogant behaviour should be banned from being shared on the internet, anywhere.  I keep my eyes and ears very open to what’s going on locally, and I will do everything I can to get this vile behaviour from airing on our local platforms.  I have reported several people over the years, and hope that by catching them quickly, their air time is limited.

However, I also love to find the little sweet things that make people smile.  During the time of April 2020 when all was quiet in Garforth, this local guy took out his drone (no euphemism) and took it across our town, I feel it needs music, so add your own as you watch and see how still we were, this is a one-off video, the lack of people and traffic in our small town is quite mesmerising to watch. Garforth in Bloom sponsorship

For many years I have sponsored a tub outside the Welfare Hall on Main Street.  I always wanted to sponsor a bigger plot, but up until now, there has been no availability… wait until you see where I’m going!  If you too want to help out or take over my little tub, it’s very affordable, please contact Garforth in Bloom to find out how you too can help our volunteers make Garforth look bloomin https://www.garforthinbloom.org.uk/

Flexibus

If you don’t know, https://www.wymetro.com/flexibus there is a local bus service that can go to many local places this side of Leeds.

“West Yorkshire’s first demand-responsive trial for public transport has launched. FlexiBus is a pre-bookable service that connects people to local places within the East Leeds area. You must book at least one hour before you wish to travel and the bus will pick you up at a safe and convenient place within 200m (3 minutes walk) of your location.”

How much does it cost?

£2 flat fare – pay by contactless payment card/app when you board the bus. Under 19s pay £1.20.  Holders of Senior and Disabled Person’s bus pass travel free after 09.30am on weekdays and all day on Saturdays, Blind person’s pass holders travel free all day on weekdays and on Saturdays.

Check it out as it may be helpful for a relative or friend you know, who doesn’t drive

Planning

HOW MUCH?

  • Tippl moves out, but who’s moving in at these prices?  In today’s climate of shallow pockets for everyone, landlords/ladies wanting to charge higher rents than the inner city premises is just ridiculous, even a chain would struggle, Tippl did, and had to move out!. I truly wish these premises are not vacant for long, but who will take this on?

  • As mentioned last week, the newsagents between La Bella Vita and Garforth Cobblers seemed to be undergoing a transformation of sorts, as the week has gone on, and I have learnt more information, it appears the family who did own ‘The Sun’ as the kids call it, have moved back with family over in Bradford and new people have taken it on as an going concern, for now!

Good luck to all the GCSE and A level students as they started their journey to collecting keys for many doors this week

Until next week……..
