My last blog for summer

Yippee, I hear the Teachers shout across the whole of Garforth; not about the last blog for summer, but that school is out for summer, and equally, I love them too! Some say I’m crazy, but I have always loved them.  It’s a time for your kids to switch off, time for family; albeit it’s only a couple of weeks for some.  But not having school stuff to organise, rushed mornings, uniforms, homework, lunch boxes, and a £1 here and there, the monotony stops and the days are sunny  (NOT TOO HOT PLEASE) and you make sure you plan days out to make the most of them.  What’s not to love?

But before we relax for the summer, Garforth Academy parents – this is for all those people who ask ALL OF THE TIME about when kids are back at school, and when they’re next off… this is for you…. you’re welcome; as are the parents who rage reading school forums!

Garforth Community Feastival

Did you go, did you enjoy it?  We had a great time, we’re really happy how successful it was at our new venue too, Garforth Leisure Centre.  Bronwen from the leisure centre was there really early to give us a hand and some more team members throughout the whole of the day.

As well as eating lots of food, drinking plenty to keep hydrated (it was hot) we hope that you went and had a look round the new gym too, the staff were on hand to help, if you didn’t have you been since the gym has expanded?

We had a great response, and lots of people who came (because most stalls sold out) were really happy with our event and gave some great feedback.

A few asked if we could advertise it a bit more leading up to the event –  WE DO – We use social media really well, posters and MASSIVE banners are all around Garforth,  in shops on railings on lampposts, in and on the leisure centre, also on Leeds List, Leeds Inspired, Mums groups, and local well-used social media pages that we were allowed to post on.  I’m not sure what else we could do, but I am wanting funds to get a TOWN CRIER for 2023!  We’re already booking the important things for our next event, 15th July 2023, put it in your diary.

A few photos from the day.  At the end of a very long day, the four of us, including some of our fabulous volunteers, who we can’t do this without, even the ones who came and helped us out for an hour or two, thank you.

Thank you to the Garforth Camera Club who took lots of pictures throughout the day, including the second one with me standing next to Chris and Xand from Operation Ouch… I mean, Phil from Eco Baker and Dan, from Incredible Edible Garforth. 😉
