Striking a pose! Strikes – I get it I truly do. Strike, because what’s the alternative to being heard or to help in making those all-important noises? Whatever it needs to be (besides the obvious of it not needing to happen in the first place) I wish someone would come up with an alternative way of making noise, and quickly. Unfortunately, Strikes just pee the general public off, and not really the people (quickly) who need to listen, about the need for better working conditions, payment, or pensions for their workers. This time, however, It’s the train strikes that have got me posed, and It’s pure selfishness on my part. We were due to go to London for a few days after the schools had broken up for Christmas, and now because of the strikes, it’s no longer possible, and if you think I’m driving down for hours on end with moaning kids and everyone else driving who can’t get a train on Christmas week, then no! it was meant to be a stress-free few days for all the family… Plan B… Can I drive a train? On a happier note, I’ve restarted using Tiktok https://www.tiktok.com/@garforthtoday giving it another whirl to see if it does help bring a newer generation of customers to our local businesses, don’t worry, my face won’t appear… too many times!
Footy, Is it….
Coming home? How many times has it been said, chanted, screamed, cried, and begged for? It’s got to happen one day, right? I’m not a huge football fan and it’s been mentioned previously, many blogs ago, just because I was born on the Wirral, it doesn’t mean I came out red, or blue… I think it was yellow actually, a tad bit jaundiced!
However, what football brings is joy to people, love, wanting, happy times, and celebrations, and when the right goals are scored, the atmosphere is electric, this is what I like about football. After England’s women played and won the Euro’s ‘ahem’ I found a new love for footy, it was mesmerising, and the women are so skilled and amazing, no big money was needed here! I really hope, they do well on Saturday and look to bring it home before Christmas, what a great present it would be; I’ll have a little scream if they do.

- Saturday 10th – 10 am-2.00 pm – Penny’s Pot Shop – Penny will be hosting an open studio and Christmas Stall on her driveway. You can go along and look at her fabulous pottery caravan and see where she works. There will be ceramics on sale, and also, Penny will be selling some seconds; if you like wobbly pots too! Oh, and free mulled wine – please have some otherwise she may drink it all. If you are local to Garforth, please walk, but if you are coming in the car please DO NOT park in front of her house. It’s a busy bus route on a slight corner, and it gets backed up very easily, use a side road off Church Lane.
