The Lurgy – who hasn’t had some sort of virus over this last month? Snots, coughs, and some kind of respiratory something, along with Covid still doing the rounds. For me, being ill is so frustrating, and annoying, it causes me to stop; which I’m not very good at. I’m not one for lying in bed all day, whilst wandering around the house in PJs…My laptop just comes downstairs and we sit on the couch together, carrying on, and sipping copious amounts of coffee, water, and Lemsip in the hope that something will kick in and give me some minutes of energy….. here’s hoping it will all be gone before Santa arrives, it’s the coughing that seems to be the things that makes this lurgy last
The New Year
In January The Main Deal will be 9 years old, 9 years since we launched our website, when our platforms went live, and when people started to get to know who I was and what The Main Deal was all about. I had a 10-year plan, 10 years to get as many of our local people (you) finding out what’s on the doorstep of the place you chose to live… 10 years to change what was happening with local businesses and help get them onboard and to understand the technical way of marketing their businesses. I had to show them It was the right thing to do for the future of their business. I definitely feel I have helped many people during this time and made some great connections between businesses and our community. We are a happy company, one that shares the positive of Garforth and our lovely surrounding villages, a service that tells you what’s going on, where, who, and how, hopefully, it makes your life easier too, which has always been my aim. Shop Local, first… because it’s easier to do so.
I have also been part of many projects and ideas, and I have enjoyed most of them, such as Garforth Community Choir and Garforth Community Feastival which are still very much part of Garforth today. The next project will hopefully get off the ground this year, it’s all about finding the right people to work with who sing from the same hymn sheet, the people who are willing to just get on with it. JFDI… figure it out! One says, it’s always best to apologise than sometimes ask for permission… I’ll go with that!
In my time, running a digital marketing company, Social media has changed so much, it’s moved forward a lot, which I knew it would, as you will know, anything in IT changes… all of the time! When these updates happen it also means we need to update, so in comes the training, lots of it. I’m currently on a digital marketing and SEO journey, and I have 90 hours left to go… here’s to me being the expert when I have finished; until it changes again! Wish me luck out there.

It’s great to see there is still good interest in businesses wanting to get onto Main Street, ! I have asked the question of the landlord, and I am waiting to hear, whether he confirms it’s something different and new; just tell me it’s not another barber and I will be happy.
- St Aidens. If you’re a local to St.Aidens, they submitted an application back in September for this – Erection of a modular single storey office and welfare building with an access ramp and stairs – great for its staff and volunteers of RSPB
