July 26 – and the sun has been Out, Out

WOOO it’s been hot hasn’t it, uncomfortably so at times, but this week the weather’s settled into the kind of summer we actually like. That lovely 22-23 degrees where you still carry a little bit of knitwear, just in case.

My worry, though, is what happens next. With the forecast creeping up and the proper summer months rolling in, I can’t stop thinking about the fact that most people sleep naked in this heat. And what if there’s an emergency? Everyone bundled outside in a hurry… towns and towns of nakedness as far as the eye can see. Grim. Let’s file that one firmly under bad dreams and never speak of it again.

Football Fever – around here it’s felt more like a mild temperature. I’ve been watching, mind, though I’ll admit I’m more of a Lionesses fan, I just tune in when England are playing and hope for the best.

However, the only real fever we’ve seen locally came courtesy of the chap at The Fly Line who, several beers in, decided the most sensible response to the match was to climb onto the pub roof. For banter, obviously. The banter was promptly joined by the police. Thankfully nobody was hurt, except possibly his pride!

There’s being on the tiles, and then there’s being on the actual tiles, this fella went full method. I’m sure he’s really, really sorry now. Classic case of beer in, brains…….

STRAWBERRIES PLEASE – Annabel’s Deliciously British
Nice to see Annabel’s is back open on Aberford Road – Fridays only 10-5pm – We went last week, got some strawberry’s to bring home ,and whilst we were there my sons got a cup of strawberries and Cream and one with chocolate – There are some lovely set out benches (in the shade) along with some things for your little ones to do.

Saturday 18 –  Sunday 19th July  – Its been a lovely month celebrating, Pride and it’s Leeds Pride Weekend Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July.  I’m not part of the flag, but I do like to be part of the pole – We should celebrate everyone, and I’m so glad that our city gets to celebrate this for a 2 day weekend, If you’re going, just have the best time

Planning
  • Miller and Carter Garforth will be closed from 20th July – 29th  August for a makeover – I know they had a planning application in earlier in the year to extend the front of the outside area – will look forward to seeing their, ‘Better than ever!’ transformation
  • Thorpe Park has had the go ahead for development of Logistics and Manufacturing units to be built – looking at plans it’s near to the Orbital Road.  The reason we mention it as it could bring up to 1700 local jobs
