Monday I’ll be back in the office full time and able to look at the next few weeks of marketing and getting those companies who said they are coming onboard in September, on board. Watch this space and the social media shout outs. I’m also attending lots of meetings this month including Garforth Christmas Committee Meeting, Traders Meeting and Town End Planning meeting

Word on the Street
So the event has been publicised for 17th September at Cielo 5.30pm for Town End planning. It is Netto (who are owned by Sainsbury’s) who will be holding the meeting and I’m glad they have opened it for anyone to attend – should they wish. I’m sure once they have put their point across, there will be plenty of hands raised and questions asked. I will be there with a few of the Traders from Main Street, my aim is to find out if they have thought about the high street and local surrounding businesses; can they actually influence more trade not take it away, could they offer much needed parking spaces for local shoppers?
As mentioned in last weeks, blog, The Co-op is having a refurb, the shop closed on Wednesday until 11th September – I wonder what it will be like? I’m hoping more staff, less waiting in a massive queue, but perhaps that’s more money needed than a new floor and a few shelves changed!
It’s always a really rubbish post to share when Garforth in Bloom post about someone stealing their plants again! this time is was near to Miller & Carter Restaurant – it’s getting a bit sad when someone is stealing plants.
More Apartments on the land next to Nisa – someone thought it was parking for Nisa, but this is showing 11 apartments and 2 new outlets!

Our next Garforth Hour Live night is scheduled for 22nd September – can you be the business that hosts it? Garforth Town Football Club were pencilled in, we were waiting on match times, and on this occasion they have a home match so we are now looking at November for them to host. If you can host on this evening from 8pm-9.30pm, it’s a great way to showcase yourself and the last two have been successful at Business Works and La Bella Vita. Tomorrow is National Charity day in the UK
Which is always great to have a day where we think of other people in need, especially at the moment with all the news and media about the Syrian migrants. Whether it’s something you agree with or not, or it’s something that perhaps isn’t relevant to our town, I personally think it’s something you need to think of as a human being, no human being is illegal and if you can help in any way over the next week, then please do. Tomorrow and Sunday, you can drop of a donation at St Benedicts Church for the #DoctorsOf The World Charity who will be taking your donations to Calais.
Also we have a local lady Sarah Hey who is collecting boxes of goods to go over in a van to London and then onwards. You can also drop these boxes off at Absolutely Fabulous next to Barclays Bank before the 11th September – if you can, give a little, you know it will mean a lot

Lots of people ask me, ‘why don’t you have this company or that business on The Main Deal.’ I am growing each week, slowly but surely, but it is up to me to convince people that The Main Deal is a great place to be and be seen; My existing members think so. My goal over next 4 months before my first year of trading is to have a lot more businesses on here, but things take time especially when you’re the only person doing everything. Luckily I am now at a stage where businesses are coming to me to ask to be advertised and I’ve also had a recommendation which is always great. – But feel free to push people in my direction…
Over the last week the stats have been going up and up, people are back from holidays and wanting to look at what’s going on locally. This week we’re up to 34,515 hits.
