After last Friday’s atrocities in Paris, it seemed last week’s, Day of the year; World Kindness day, was not that. #RIPParisians. I also hope for Paris and it’s future, and their local economy isn’t impacted for too long

Met office have issued a weather warning for this weekend with forecasts of snow – keep safe, stay warm.
IF their forecast is right and we do see some of this white stuff, go out and have some fun in it – either way, I think the temperature is going to drop so wrap up warm and drink gluhwein
A busy week in the office this week after a weekend away in London, accounts and paperwork as well as plugging all our great businesses
Some great shops windows making a real effort for the Christmas Window Competition this year. Most of the little trees from our Fiveraffle 2014 have now been given out or collected and it’s starting to look quite sweet up and down Main Street as light turns to dark. #keepaneyeout

Garforth Christmas lights switch-on event 2015
We have organised a Christmas lights switch-on event for the local community. The event will take place on Saturday 28 November 2015 from 5:30-7pm and it will involve a road closure on Main Street (Town End to Barleyhill Road), from 4pm – 8:30pm.
From 3-8pm there will also be a Christmas market with stallholders from local traders selling Christmas crafts. The market will be located between William Hill and the Co-op. There will be a funfair in the car park behind Barclays bank and the event, which will also include loud music, will culminate with the lights being switched on and a firework finale.
As you live in the vicinity of the road closure, we are writing to advise you that there will be signed diversions in order to hold this event in the safe environment of a traffic-free road. It is the same diversion plan as we have used for many years.
Access for residents living off Main Street:
We appreciate there may be a need to get to/from your property during the event. Security staff / marshals will be able to maintain limited access between 4-8pm but please note this may not be possible whilst the switch-on event is running (5:30-7pm) depending on audience numbers – crowd safety is paramount. Access will be maintained for emergencies.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience the event may cause you and hope you’ll be able to come along to the switch-on.
