Christmas LIGHTS
I don’t know about you, but even in the rain for 7 hours, I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Lights Switch on, last Saturday. I think our Christmas Committee certainly worked and our steps in trying to make the event that was already good a little better worked. Hopefully after our meeting in January engaging with the committee and the feedback we will have all received and the people who have been involved like other traders, local councillors and The Garforth Lions, with the feedback we should be able to make 2016 even better.
As I stood on the stage to draw the Fiveraffle, I could see everyone and you were Subway deep with people waiting for the local boxer Josh Warrington and local school girl to switch on our lights. I stood back and then got dragged forward to do the countdown #fabulous I felt all warm and fuzzy; even though I was soaking wet.
The community spirit was wonderful and if you can all turn up in the wind and rain, then imagine how many more of you would be if there if the weather was on side?
Thank you everyone for shopping local, shopping with the stalls and supporting the good of Garforth; even when it was miserable, you weren’t.

Fiveraffle Winner

It’s SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY tomorrow – a national day for us all to support local businesses
So when you’re out and about Garforth #shoppinglocal, don’t forget it’s Garforth In Bloom Christmas Fair in the Miners Welfare Hall tomorrow too – support the good that give us great things all year round
LIDL – is coming! They will no doubt have to put it through planning again as I suspect they will not be wanting the whole of Miami, it’s massive and it’s unlikely they will be requiring a petrol station – as I always say, we’ll know when it’s built and the sign goes up what and where it’s happening
As much as I wasn’t for another supermarket; I just think we need one bigger and better one, I think a Lidl will actually compliment what’s already here and hopefully not detract too much from local businesses in and around Main Street.
Netto – not sure if the confirmation that Lidl will be arriving will change their minds about putting their shop at the top of Town End! Again, we’ll just have to wait and see. They have said they will notify me when their plans are put in! #watchthisspace
Lots of rumours this week about Wetherspoons, as I always find out in my job, lots of people think they are the oracles of Garforth and know everything that goes on… even I don’t know everything that goes on and certainly don’t pretend I do in order to start rumours, sometimes it’s impatience that starts stories
Fact – there are few things left to be signed and sorted through planning, so no, Wetherspoons haven’t pulled out
I’m looking forward to seeing the newly re-furbished Firthfields Playground – they are hoping to have it all finished before the Christmas holidays #playlocal
The Main Deal is nearly a year old and will be having a facelift in January – I have to move with the IT trends and make sure you’re all still coming on board, watching, listening and reading, I might even make 50,000 hits before then as I today I reach 45,600 hits……
