It’s always fun when the children are off school, juggling work and entertainment and spending quality time with them too, which is my whole point of doing this job in order I can fit it round the family. But I’m thinking I may need to start looking for a person to help fill the position of holiday cover #anyoneinterested?
Garforth Traders Association – This month after 2 year of establishing the association into more of an organised team, I hand my notice in as Chair – the group is great with meetings every 6 weeks and it’s now time for someone on Main Street to take it on board and move forward with it, I will miss the fun side of the meetings; always up for a laugh are the traders
Yorkshire Choice Awards evening
It was a fabulous night, from the pictures you can see, but unfortunately none of our lovely businesses came away with an award, one of the winning businesses had 18,000 votes… that’s a huge number to ask and beat . However, forever the optimist, West Yorkshire did win best business region

Well, you know I said last week, I was worried about the evening festivities finishing at 1.00am…. and that you might find me in a corner asleep…. #lateforme well, I was one of the last ones there….. lasting longer in my old age!

GARFORTH ARTS FESTIVAL
Well what a great meeting was had, there are approximately 13 of us from the community and all walks of Garforth from Business owners, to Teachers, organisers, people from our church and social activity groups as well as good hearted people who want to do something this year whilst the big play ground party takes a break; they’ve assured is they’ll be back in 2017. Now we have some dates and this great group will be meeting every two weeks to discuss our plans – lots of great ideas and possibilities coming forward, #watchthisspace it could get very exciting!
Garforth Christmas Committee
After last month’s Meeting, all seems with the team and Events from LCC, all ideas seem to be ok and at least not frowned upon. Debbie from Angels and Butterflies has a great plan and list for this year’s Market and hopefully it means it will extend to the Sunday too. – Lots to do, lots to plan. We’re hoping to get more local musicians and foodies on board this year.
There was lots of interest after Monday’s Facebook post which I was asked to share quite quickly due to its nature. Normally, and as on a previous post not so long ago, I waited for clarification from the police. WARNING: 45 MINS AGO..My 12 yr old son was followed by a strange man to our front door on Scholars Gate in Garforth. He asked him to go with him as he has some sweets at his house. Thank god my son ran in and locked the door. The man is tall in his 50s wearing a woolly beanie hat. He has a bushy grey beard and was walking a small white Scottie dog. The police are out looking for him now. PLEASE SHARE!!

Rumours about closure of shops
There are always rumours about closing of shops and sadly these rumours seemed to stem from other local businesses, this can have quite an impact on these businesses, so it’s a bit unfair. So to put things right and to share facts I know. Cielo, Dorothy Anne’s or Scott Hairdressers are NOT LEAVING OR MOVING. However, we look to see Ladycares moving out by the end of the year, this is also fact as Karen the owner has confirmed and has been telling her customers – you should #shoplocal because when you don’t they go
FOR YOUR DIARY – Augustus Court, Meridian Care Home will be having an open Day on Saturday 23rd April, you will be able to go along and see this wonderful place and also listen to Garforth Community Choir sing as well as one of the local dance and theatre schools perform – I will create an event for this very soon.
