A fair bit of news in Garforth this week, with the Gala doing really well on Sunday; THE WEATHER WAS ON SIDE! The new shops signs are up on the new eatery at the top of Main Street (not quite chicken, but we will find out more as the weeks go on – they had a change of plans) CA Hair Design is moving to new premises on Aberford Road with Freshly Made and it’s finally looking like JD Wetherspoons have jumped over the last hurdle in relation to deliveries – I’ll keep you posted – Lidl has had approval from planning to create 100+ jobs in their new developments for Garforth! Matt at LS25 Web Design is adding a few changes to the website, getting our ‘Search’ button back, so you should see a little revamp of the overall look, it will give you an option to search for anything and see if we have showed it, spoke about it, shouted about it and if the information points you in the direction of our members and their links and information.
Matt also adding another category to the website called, ‘People who achieve locally’, and this was one of the reasons why
Gabriella started skating for 5 years ago at Leeds Ice Cube.
She now skates at The Ice Sheffield rink about 10-15 hrs a week (more when there is a competition on.) She has to get up at 4 am to get to the rink for 6 am Saturday Sunday & on a Monday before school.
Its costs on average about £10,000 a year for Gabriella to skate that includes coaches fees, ice time, dresses (she needs 3 dresses for competitions as she does 3 dances per competition) boots, competition & Exam fees & the cost will only increase when Gabriella starts to skate internationally.
Gabriella has entered The British solo ice Dance Championship for the last 2 years & has qualified both years going on to win the British Championship 2 years in a row.
Gabriella is showing great promise with her competitive ice dancing and has started to set herself as a very promising star of the future in British ice skating.

Well it’s here folks, after all the hard work by our volunteers group and Garforth Arts festival, the second Main Street Festival is on tomorrow from 9.30am – 3.00pm There is lots going on, we’re going to have fun on the street we shop. The road will not be closed so please be careful where you stand, as I know there will be a crowd of you wanting to stop look and listen to the fantastic talent on offer.
We will have our fun local artist, Bren Nevison helping create fabulous artwork by you, the local community, grab some chalk and get creative with the Poppy theme Bren has planned – when all the blackboards are decorated, we will arrange for them to be put up on our local cafe’s.
Watch out for the stilt walkers, the skaters and the singers and adults, you too can have your face painted – look out for the man from team #marvel too – Look out for our great knittied hoops

It may also be a good idea to either catch the bus or walk as it will be busier than normal. If you are driving, park down on Barleyhill Car Park near the tennis courts, usually lots of room and it takes the traffic away from Main Street.

On Sunday St Benedict’s Catholic Primary have their Summer Fair, from 11am, lots of stalls, entertainment a bouncy castle a bird of prey – I see there’s a great advert in their brochure too!
