Ok 2017, slow down a little.  School holidays for most, and I’m glad of this 2 weeks off and time  to spend with the #Thomboys especially as the eldest is in year 6 and working really hard with the continuous regime of tests for Reading, Maths and English in order, like in his mocks, he passes.  The strain on him is awful, as is the worry; and we are NOT pushy or pressing parents.  I think the pressure on children and teachers is immense, god help those schools who have no parental support, it must be so hard.

So, i’m very much looking forward for us all to be taking some time out and doing some fun things, some local as well as travelling further afield such as the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and maybe The Yorkshire Wildlife Park, let’s hope the weather is on side; it’s a good job we have plenty of museums on hand if rain decides to show it’s wet face.  – see last weeks blog for links to all things Half Term

It’s been a really busy few weeks, lots going on from decorating the house, organising builders, to supporting the Garforth Community Feastival, working with local businesses, new members, sorting out Easter whilst kids are in school, along with Easter school activities.  Luckily there is always time for me in there somewhere.  After looking back at some of my Facebook live video’s I realised my eyebrows really needed some attention, so I had them properly shaped this week by the lovely

Touching on the Garforth Feastival,  there are a fair few great people in the background pulling together to bring Garforth it’s first ever food feast, which is it’s main premise.  A fair few business are involved including local people from our community, who want to see this project really take off and leave it with a continuing legacy to do more great things – so put it in your diary NOW

Back in the saddle (literally)

Hope all the Mums out there had a lovely Mothers Day last weekend! For mine, I was surprised with a horseback ride at Garforth Riding School (https://garforthstables.wordpress.com/) on
Nanny Goat Lane. I loved horses growing up – as a young girl I took riding lessons, but haven’t been on a horse in about 20 years. So it was a really sweet and a thoughtful surprise.

Graham at Garforth Riding School was great – we had a nice steady ride through some local bridleways. It was a beautiful sunny day and really peaceful away from the roads and traffic. If you’re interested in going riding, I recommend giving them a call.

The best part out of the whole afternoon, was forgetting about everything else except being outside, enjoying the ride. I love being a Mum, but it was nice not feeling like a Mum for a little while.  For once, it was nice to be… just me.

This weekend Pride and Produce celebrate a year in business; where has the time gone?  Look what they have achieved on our Street in this short time.  They have expanded in produce and menu choice, they have brought a night time vibe, which is also about to expand as well as holding lots of activities in house such as being part of the Dementia Friendly Group and weekly craft sessions.

One of the many great things why Pride and Produce do well, is they listen to you, the community and try and tick the boxes you want ticking, and they have done this many times over.

Celebrate with them this weekend, both day and night – watch out for the fab creations by www.funkymuppet.co.uk too
