I hope you had a lovely Easter Break? If you were able to get away, even better! To be fair though, the weather was pretty much on side and overall it was pretty decent for days out.
Have you eaten all your chocolate eggs yet? If you’re really quite good moderating the chocolate intake which means you still have plenty to gorge on, instead of melting them and making crispy cakes, try some of these ideas.
- As a treat, use half an egg as a special edible cereal bowl
- For Adults – open the top of an egg and pour in your favourite tipple, chocolate drinkable glass, Baileys is good
- Put the egg in a large cup and poor over hot milk, perfect hot chocolate as it melts
- Melt and dip fruit kebabs in it
With the weather being more onside it has been really nice to see our lovely volunteers Garforth In Bloom out in force making Garforth look even prettier as we approach the summer months. Some areas are quite dangerous, Selby Road for instance where they’re creating a rockery style garden on the edge of the Road, much better than trying to plant year on year. Soon we will also see a beautiful explosion of knitting all over the railings; look out for it. Lots of local people and groups are helping, if you follow the local Garforth WI page you would have seen them this week helping out on the knitting front. This explosion is the only type you will look forward to seeing.

Instead of writing, I thought I would video this bit………….
I have recently been contacted by a company called, Magpie who are working with the NHS to create a campaign, a very important one and here’s there request to you, the people in our local community.
Currently we are trying to get views from local residents in Garforth about antibiotics.
Did you know that antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats to human health and by 2050 antibiotic resistant super-bugs are predicted to be more fatal than cancer! This is due to overuse and inappropriate prescribing. Our campaign is aimed at raising awareness of these issues and ultimately changing behaviours within Leeds and the surrounding areas.
When looking for organisations with a strong community within Garforth, we came across your blog ‘The Main Deal’. It is essential that reputable organisations within Garforth be involved in this project, as we aim to collect community insight on antibiotics, to make a positive change within the community.
If you are interested in supporting this community project, we would really appreciate if you shared our online survey on your social media channels, helping us to collect initial information regarding the current behaviours and beliefs in Garforth: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XLKQN5Q (copy and paste this link)
I had a lovely evening on Wednesday, with the ladies of Buttercrumble and their, ‘Wearable Histories’ launch which took place at Just Grand, Vintage Tearoom in Leeds, this place is beautiful and fun as was the night, sharing in the launch of Abergail and Chloe’s scarf range, 100% silk and illustration prints just by them, this is a special gift for you or someone you love. Their illustrations are clever and a real talking point. Take a look at their online shop to see more of what they do http://www.buttercrumble.com/shop I like the Red Lipstick one
Buttercrumble reside here in Garforth and are working closely with the Community Feastival team to bring you something fabulous as part of the run up to and on, the 15th July – you will need to keep your eyes peeled
Just Grand vintage Tearoom is an independent business in Leeds and it’s a place I think, when in town I will visit more often. They had a singer who’s voice was so sweet and pure, singing numbers from the 40’s – It’s my kind of heaven; and they have a drinks license! They open late when their is a performance on at, The Grand Theatre and offer 2 for 1 on Prosecco, Sherry and Wine! With homemade cakes, this really takes you back to a time when everything seemed sweet; a real find

DIY with baby
Hope everyone had a lovely break over Easter! We did it, we jumped on the DIY bandwagon last weekend.
Not that DIY is a new thing in our house – since we moved in three years ago we have been in a constant state of construction. Our house was a repossession and everything needed doing. We’re doing it mostly ourselves so it’s been a slow process. Throw in having a baby and work ground to a halt for almost a year.
Nothing like a soon-to-be crawling baby to kickstart the work around the house again! For us, baby proofing is more than just buying baby gates, we have to finish our floors as well! I spent the weekend caulking and painting skirting boards. Have to say, it was a nice feeling to get something accomplished that wasn’t directly related to little T.
Next is the kitchen floor – this time we’re getting David from DMC Tiling in to do the job. I’m looking forward to That magical day when everything is finished. Someday…

Rumours………….
As the land were Lidl are developing sits still for a minute, the rumours flow in
‘The Pub has pulled out’ ‘Have Lidl sacked their contractors’ ‘Lidl have ran out of money’ and it goes on
There is no truth in any of these, I know in planning their are still some outstanding things and they may be waiting on these to go through, Mark Dobson I believe has enquired to the people ‘in the know’ as to why it’s all gone quiet! When I hear, I will let you know
Until next week………………………………. Be Kind
