Yeah it’s a Bank Holiday Weekend. I know, I know not all of you are fortunate enough to be off work, but for those who are, enjoy and make sure you pop into our local businesses.
Now, yes Weatherspoon’s have graced our town now for a few months and guess what; they’re not going anywhere, they here to stay, however, some of you have forgotten about our once used local pubs and café’s and they are starting to suffer; novelty period is over folks, don’t forget about them otherwise the only option will be, Weatherspoon’s! One company is down £7k in the last 2 months! We like choice, let’s keep it that way.
We look forward to adding Dotties Events and TiSecurity on as our new members this weekend.
There is also more to come over the next few months with working with the NHS, focus groups and campaigns in relation to the survey we posted on last week’s blog about Antibiotics. They want to hear your views, so keep following us for more information; I;m hearing they’re looking at yummy incentives for your time and views!

Hurray it’s the long weekend!
Wow I can’t believe the early May bank holiday is here already! Seems like there’s lots going on locally – what are your plans? Anyone going to the Lotherton Food & Drink Festival? It was a lot of fun last year. What about the Tour de Yorkshire? Or enjoying a day out at Temple Newsam?
I’d love to hear what people’s plans are this weekend, especially kid-friendly activities.
As for us? We’re going camping… in April… with an 8 month old… Wish us luck!

Lee and Louise our lovely Greengrocer is set to move into the old Co-op Travel within the next few months, glad he is staying and filling this long overdue empty shop and happy for him, it’s more financially viable as landlords always expect far too much in the way of rent and rates are always too high. Flowers by Chloe is one of our members and I look forward to seeing her new space when they move in. However, it also means there are talks as to whoever is going to take the current space, the rumours aren’t great IF what is being said is true, and I’m on it. However, until things are more confirmed rather than a probability I will keep schtum for now; there’s enough people out there gossiping and thinking its fine to do so!
Things on this weekend
Garforth Brass Band Coffee Morning and Table Top sale
We will be in the Welfare Hall on Main Street,. We are holding a coffee morning from 10am to 12 where the band will be playing and showcasing our beginners section.
There will be table top sales if you would like to hire a table to sell your goods a donation of £5 is payable
Come along, entry is free and who knows you may decide you would like to learn to play too or even take it up again after a break.

Lotherton Hall Food Festival, let’s hope the weather is kinder this year
Saturday 29th April- Monday 1st May 2017
Lotherton Hall plays host to it’s second food & drink festival. With an array of hot street food stall with food inspired from all over the world, a 30m marquee housing some of the best local producers and a whole host of speciality bars including Rudgate brewery, pimms & prosecco, gin, cocktails there will be something for everyone. Live music will feature throughout the weekend on our main stage as well as Man V Food competitions.
We will once again be offering a programme of FREE children’s entertainment, Kiddy Cook cookery classes, funfair and bouncy castles. It’s a great place to get together and socialise with friends and family so save the date and make a weekend of it!
Gaping Goose’ Car Boot Sale on Sunday, all places are fully booked, but opening time for visitors will be at 8am until 12pm
