We are looking to help advertise a local band who will be bringing something fabulous to Garforth in June! Like a bit of #garybarlow!
As mentioned last week, I am working with the NHS. Next Wednesday 10th May, they are running a focus group to gather your thoughts and views. The session will be held at Cielo Coffee Shop, it will start at 12.00pm and last 30 minutes. As of this afternoon there are only 5 places remaining, so come and help and find out the important factors about super bugs and how using antibiotics properly may help. Free Tea, Coffee and Cake for your thoughts!
Mummies Workout Club!
I like fitness classes. Before little man was born, I would get up early to clock a 6:30am circuit or spin class a couple days a week before work. You know, back in the days where sleep wasn’t such a precious commodity.
I do miss it though. It’s tough going to the gym when little man is still so dependant on me. I work out at home, but it’s just not the same. So, I’ve started a workout group with a few mummy friends where we can bring our little ones along and get a good HIIT-style circuit workout.

Where: Premier World Fitness, Garforth
When: Thursdays 10:30-11:30
How much: £4 to help cover cost of the room
How it works: We set up mats with toys in the centre of the room surrounded by stations with different exercises. We do intervals around the room, keeping an eye on our little ones, and they keep an eye on us (turns out watching Mummy sweat is very entertaining!) The circuit lasts about 30 minutes, leaving plenty of time to be kind to ourselves with a good stretch and bit of a natter afterwards.
If your little one is relatively stationary still and you want to give it a try you’re more than welcome to join us! If you can, let me know if you’re coming so I have an idea of numbers. But also feel free to drop in as well.

The First Gin Friday at Quirky Ales tonight – The first Friday of every month, pop in, #drinklocal
The Welfare Hall is a great place to pop into this weekend for refreshments/lunch as well as numerous interesting stalls and activities and all proceeds go to St Mary’s Church to maintain is to that I can remain for Baptisms, marriages and funerals and most importantly be there ALL the for ALL the people
Garforth Feastival update Pride and Produce, Dumouchel, The Gin shack and Quirky will be selling their wares to buy along with other foody stalls out on Main Stret. The Library will have a baking competition and story reading in venues, Cielo, The Station House, Dumouchel, Freshly Made are also getting organised with food items, possible open Mic events and entertainment in house! Along with some special dishes!
We will dish out and drip feed you information as we go along when more things are confirmed. Quirky Ales are having a night time do where tickets will be at a reasonable cost, and there will be bands playing The gin shack, possibly Wine of some form and food offerings; it will all be going on down there on the night itself. So keep following Quirky for more info on tickets sales.
PLANNING…. not a happy bunny
As mentioned last week, The Greengrocer is moving into the old CO-OP Travel unit, and it seems that the company taking over already has planning permission in, to change the Shop front window! If rumours are to be true and as planning indicates; I’m hearing very loudly that COSTA coffee is coming……………….. you can imagine my thrill to hear about yet another large chain store. On the basis of the rumours last week, I sent an enquiry along with a detailed report in an email to Henry Lax Ltd who are the Landlords for the units along this parade, outlining the options of coffee we have already and in the report, how it shows clearly that a much wider choice and variety of shops is needed, such as retail, and how potentially this could kill off other independent cafe’s! Have I had a reply back from them……… NO! I have also asked our local Councillors if there is anything they could to help in stopping something so unnecessary arriving on our High Street…. ! Garforth changes are bringing changes that we just don’t need!

Be good, be kind, shop local and stop using the excuse of not being able to park. I probably go down more than most of the people reading this blog and I can always park. If you want to find a space within 2 minutes of arriving on Main Street or you want to find it really easy driving up a high street without busses and other traffic, you can visit other towns called #ghosttown
Be happy with our lot, stop expecting perfection; it doesn’t exist
