A mixed week at TMD HQ this week, but as usual it’s always busy…It was nice to receive my eldest #thomboys SATS results this week, proving that all his hard work and determination paid off. Not looking forward to the youngest #thomboy coming up to year 6, hoping the pressure is off by the time he does them!

Looking forward to Social Media training with Garforth Dental next week and The lovely team at The Smile Cupboard. This training session not only helps members, how to use social media but how it works and how best to use it. It’s about the understanding and using it in ways they may not have thought about, you will be surprised how many people use Twitter or Facebook but don’t actually fully understand it from a business perspective. It’s only when you’re shown do you understand; like most things in life!

I believe last week’s TAKETHAT Live concert at The Welfare Hall was fantastic, a full house and lots of dancing and a few glasses of vino – I saw a video! As mentioned last week, TAKETHATLIVE will be back with other ideas later in the year.
I always think it’s great that we can do these things in Garforth, we can have night out and enjoy local, we now have more on offer than ever before and I don’t need to tell you, but when our local businesses put on good things and you go, the more they will do, bringing more and perhaps even bigger and better each time – remember, you shape our town.
Great to hear Garforth on Radio Leeds this week talking to a few familiar voices in Garforth including our lovely Carol from Garforth in Bloom about our wonderful YARNBOMBING up Selby Road. If you want to see it all properly, go and park in the Gaping Goose, stop in for a glass or two and then take a walk down to look at all the yarn bombing that took local volunteers an age to put all together – it’s truly fabulous
Nice to have seen tweets and pictures of, Prince Harry in Leeds this week raising awareness for Mental Health – i love a royal, but love our young new generation, Royals they seem to be changing how things are done, moving with the times. #goharry for raising such an important matter which needs to matter to people that don’t understand.

Childminding in Garforth
I’m not going back to work yet, but as first birthdays in our playgroup are fast approaching, many other mums I’ve met are getting ready to return to work. Which means I get to hear from them the joys and challenges of sorting out childcare – hurrah!

She’s a qualified midwife, is fantastic with kids (just ask my little man, he’ll tell you), and is one of the kindest people I know. Interested? Lidl – A few weeks pass and then people question as to whether Lidl is ever coming – Mark Dobson spoke to them last week and they’re pushing to get Caddick Developers on site asap
Nice to hear the release of information about the company, Odeon being the cinema coming to Thorpe Park, it will be a 10 screen cinema promising the latest in new technology and a fantastic experience! Development of the cinema and leisure complex has started this week, due to open Autumn 2018. Just wondering what they mean when they mention a further 5 high street leisure operators are also close to securing space at Thorpe Park’ I wonder who these will be, with it being leisure? I expect evenings and weekends we will see our younger generation heading off this way and it will be great for families to have somewhere closer to go for leisure facilities. I can just see it now though! Mums and Dad’s being Taxi services from Garforth to Colton – Mmmm, maybe this could be an idea one of our taxi companies could run!!

A prospective developer of a new crematoria on the site of Golf Crazy – Driving Range Attended Monday’s Parish Council meeting. There will be a public exhibition on Tuesday 11th of July at Garforth Golf Club 2.30pm to 7.30pm. The promoters leaflet is enclosed. Please share this post, as the developer are not intending to do a letter drop in Barwick and Scholes due to a “lack of budget”.
