A Happy New Year to you all – ok, how many times have you said this so far?

2018 What’s it going to bring this year?  I’m hoping for a happy and healthy one, especially as lots of people I know have been quite poorly over the Christmas holidays.  Touch wood, I’ve manged to escape the Christmas germs….so far!

I’m hoping January goes quickly, it’s not my favourite month of the year.  Skint, fatter, weather is rubbish, decs are down and I no longer go skiing anymore… this was always something to look forward to after Christmas, but having children put a stop to that 13 years ago… I can still dream about going back one day, when I’m richer, skinnier and not worrying about the decs being down.

So how many of you have a store cupboard full of, crackers, sweets, biscuits and cheese still staring at you?

We used all of our leftover cheese in a homemade fondue. All you need is, plenty of cheese, a little white wine or some spirits you may have leftover along with some thickening agent such as cornflour or water and flour. Check online for some receipes.  Fondue is great with left over chunks of bread, potatoes, cured meats and veg, Just stick your pan ful of goodness in the middle of the table and let everyone dunk in.,  and for dessert, if you have lots of biscuits leftover, you could always crush them together to make a base for a cheesecake!

After leftovers are gone and like me, you’re now starting to look at your backside and wonder who put it there!  Is it time to do something about it?  Are you promising yourself a dry January?  I’m going with Rebecca from the Gin Shack and doing Ginuary.  I will be keeping off the Baileys, red wine and lager and hoping that by having the odd G&T, I’m not being as naughty.  Also, if you’re thinking of health and fitness, take a look at our Health, Fitness and Activities pages in the drop down menu above – we have some great local people and classes that can help shave the inches, pounds and stones we have all added on, over the past month;   Let’s be honest, Christmas isn’t just a two week period, it all starts when Quality Street tins are in the supermarket! – So look closer to home for our regular health and fitness classes first – you could even walk to them.

SOME GOOD NEWS

After all your consistent support, I am happy to announce it’s our fourth year in business next week.  Without members and yourself supporting, following, liking, sharing and buying on the back of what I have shared, then I would not be able to celebrate another year, so I thank you all, so very much.

Delivered to you by Jo Tomlinson a qualified accountant and growth coach.
Jo has a small pro-active accountancy practice in Garforth. After working for 20 years in industry, Jo felt she could add value to small businesses who needed more than just their tax return filling in.
Eight years on, Jo has an ever-growing client base and a team of 10. The clear majority of new clients come from referrals and this, Jo believes, is down to two things:

1. “If we give our clients the support and advice they need to achieve their dreams and goals, they will grow, and when they grow, they will need more of our services, and tell their friends and colleagues about us.”
2. “To get the best service level and value for money, you should purchase services from a business who is large enough to provide all the services you need and has the experience and qualifications to give you the confidence that they can deliver the quality of service you expect, and small enough to care about each and every one of our clients.”

Tickets are £10 for networking, seminar, cake and refreshments

If you should have require any further information or have any queries then please e-mail lynn.barrett@businessworksuk.co.uk or call 0113 2864486

Tickets are non-refundable.

PLANNING
Nothing new in planning for Garforth at the present moment, however looking further afield, I see Rothwell Gymnastics have plans in to move and renovate a building in Swillington, Astley Lane Ind Estate to turn one of the units into a gymnastics centre with plans for  other activities

‘The club will reach out to new audiences in the new premise and expand to engage with very young babies and their parents as well as offering adult fitness and social opportunities.’

Could be really good for many, so lets hope it gets through planning

Reading bits in planning, it suggests Rothwell Sports Centre  is due to be demolished and rebuilt in around 3 years time.  – interesting.

ANYWAY…

Make it your new year’s resolution to be more positive about the place we live.  If you see an issue or problem, then only go onto our local social media pages to shout about how you have improved something or come up with a solution – it’s a much better way of utilising social  media; telling people about the good and not about how bad things are.  Someone said to me over the holidays, nobody is sensible anymore… in lots of ways, he’s quite right

Until next week…..
