History of Kiss A Ginger Day
Kiss A Ginger Day was established in 2009 by Derek Forgie as part of a Facebook group, intended to offset the far less fun Kick A Ginger Day that takes place in November. After the events of this aggressive event, gingers everywhere were tormented and assaulted in schools all over the world.
Redheads are some of the rarest expressions of genetics in the world, true red only being present in 1-2% of the population.
The first week of the year has truly passed, it doesn’t take long to get back into the daily routines, and as mentioned last week about not liking January, I’m counting the days until the end is here.
Our local shops, hair salons and beauticians can suffer a little in January. Lack of funds and rubbish weather stops people going for anything they deem as luxury or going out in the cold. But this month is really the time we all need some ME time. A good cup of coffee, a little cake perhaps and a little pamper that doesn’t cost the earth. January is a time for getting things organised. Where am I going on holiday, let’s give those clothes I’ve kept for years out to the charity, let’s sort out my underwear draw and the #thomboys bedrooms…. Well, let’s take it one step at a time..

All the above events are run by local people who volunteer to make good things happen in our community – we rock Garforth

Thursday 25th January – Wedding Open Evening at Holiday Inn 7.00pm – 9.00pm
We have our Wedding Open Evening every last Thursday of the month. Why not come along and see one of our suites set up as a Wedding Breakfast, and speak to our events team about holding your big day with us.
What’s the plan?
Lidl is back on the wagging tongues this week, with new signs and the supermarket nearly looking finished. And the information released about the night time road closures from 22nd January from 10 pm to 6am for 2 nights and then scheduled again from 12th February from 10pm – 6am.
Therefore, i don’t think it won’t be long thereafter, and right at the start of spring we will see their doors open to the public.
I’m looking forward to shopping at a different supermarket, exciting to see if I can buy a tin of beans and a trumpet!
