Friday 19th January – A week of planning in more ways than one!

Lots going with planning small and big tasks for The Main Deal and Garforth Feastival,  Some great ideas coming together and a few little surprises in the pipeline too.  Keep following the Feastival on Facebook and Twitter for all the updates as our local volunteers complete tasks over the next few weeks – many hand and all that.

A new Member  this week

‘Seriously ‘

Seriously’ is an NHS and Leeds City Council campaign, aiming to raise awareness of the correct use of antibiotics across Leeds.
 
In November we took our campaign onto the streets of Garforth, asking people to add a pledge to our ‘Pledge Hedge‘ to help us keep antibiotics working.
 
We’re asking you to pledge to take antibiotics correctly, exactly as your doctor advises, and to always complete a course

Garforth and Kippax are two of the Leeds towns who are listed as using the most antibiotics, therefore we need to look at how best we use them and so The Main Deal is now an Ambassador and helping spread the word about how to use antibiotics more effectively.  You can Pledge here https://seriouslyresistant.com/pledge/ (copy and paste)

Paper Craft On The Platform at The Station House Cafe

In this class you will be able to learn new skills or develop upon the ones you already have to produce handmade cards, gifts and home decor. Each fortnight I will prepare and deliver a class using Coordinating Stampin’ Up! Products. You will be able to learn new stamping techniques, how to make 3D items such as gift boxes and bags along with beautiful home decor items. You will always walk away with three handmade items made by your own fair hands.

All materials, support and guidance you require will be provided to make your three projects. The cost of this class is £10 and includes light refreshments.

PLANNING
I have been watching carefully at Miami’s little amendments in planning,  and with a little information from a very good course of mine, I see they’ve been putting little alterations in all the way along, pushing back to their original designs etc, little by little, they’ve now applied to have the Non-Food restrictions removed, which allows them to sell more white goods (compete with non food shops of Garforth). It’s very wrong to take that the application was judged on its original specification, and has since been watered down little by little to get back to what Lidl wanted, without anyone being able to comment or object. – Not a happy bunny

 
Further Planning with regards of Makings land and development
 
The proposed developments as the requirement figures have dropped. They’re only proposing to do half of making field into housing (which includes the Garden Centre site within it?). What this means is they’ll only have to build a primary school, as the size doesn’t enforce a secondary school. But wait for it…… The second half of the field is held in reserve for if they miss their targets, or the numbers are changed again, in which case they can develop that at a later date. So they could feasibly develop the same size as planned originally, but they won’t have to build a secondary school!
 
Have we been shafted?
 
Garforth is changing and I’m not sure we’re all going to be happy about the changes
