What a lovely week, celebrating birthdays. The Hubby and I celebrate birthdays, 10th and 12th, so, as every year, we go out and celebrate together, so on Saturday, we went into town planning on purchasing some birthday presents; we came back with 4 coasters and a pair of ice bucket tongs! Not very successful on the purchasing front, but the drinks and food went down very well.
From something so frightening, good things can happen.
There has also been some sadness this week, as a little 5 year old boy who attends Ninelands School was given CPR, as far as I know, he is responding well to treatment but it will be a long recovery. I just wish him and his family much love and I hope the children and adults in school are OK too.
This incident has given a lot of thought to parents on how very little they know about basic first aid. A lot of you probably agree, how beneficial it would be if First Aid was taught in secondary school as children become young adults. On the basis that this seems to be a need, I contacted the lovely Tony Clough, our local First Aider who runs many courses here in Garforth. I asked him if we could do something together where he could run a basic first aid course for parents, for a nominal fee and we would help to get as many parents attending a session. Tony was so very moved by the story, he is offering to give a FREE paediatric resuscitation session in each Garforth Primary school. Yes, he’s wonderful.
I’m just in the process of organising and we will soon be in a position to let parents know. This is a great opportunity for local parents to have some knowledge and confidence to help, should an emergency arise. I have also found out today that Ninelands School put a just giving page together to purchase a defibrillator. Over this week, enough money has been raised to buy one! A defibrillator gives such an increased chance of keeping someone alive. After training with the wonderful Tony Clough., let’s hope we could encourage that buying one in each school would be a really beneficial.

We welcome our new Member, Sue Carrol a Psychic Medium. Sue runs many events, local and further afield, as far as Spain! Sue is highly recommended. I met Sue this week and she is a very lovely lady, I was just hoping she couldn’t sense anyone behind me! I sat on the fence a little with regards to adding a business like Sue’s, how would people react to something so different. But after much research and chatting, Sue is offering a service that you choose whether to go or not and Sue will only give personal readings to the same person every 6 months. She has been in this job for a long time and is fully insured as like any other business, Sue goes about her business ethically and safely. She holds regular events at The Gaping Goose and The New Travellers Rest in Crossgates as well as offering personal readings. Have a look at her website and you can follow her on Facebook and Instagram– all her links are under here https://www.themaindeal.co.uk/unique-businesses-on-our-doorstep.html

Next week is my annual Mumcation weekend. 9 school friends and I go away every year for a catch up, a dance, a walk and a rest, a drink or 3 and we laugh from the time we arrive until the time we leave. I implore you to do this with your friends, whether male or female, just pick a weekend a year in advance and pay one person (organiser) a small amount every month – I couldn’t live without this weekend away. It’s something to look forward to, it’s the best thing for mind, body and soul and you have to detox for the following week , What’s not to love?
Have a great weekend and enjoy local, whether it’s quick coffee, a bite to eat or a purchase of a new bed.
Until then………………..
