This week started with a meeting at the library to get ideas from people within the community about how we can start my idea of a Repair Café. We had 3 volunteers who came along and gave some fabulous ideas and offered their skills. We are now in touch with Leeds Repair Café and they will be coming along to another meeting I will be planning in January to get some more interest and to move things forward. We will also be contacted the local Garforth and Kippax Group U3A to see if we could get them also involved. – If you know of anybody who would like to share their skills, please let me know. It’s all about passing on knowledge too.
I have been to see Nichols Fisher Dentists this week, a possible new client coming on board next week – It’s important we show you, the community what is on offer locally and what choices and options you have. With all our Dentists, you will be amazed what treatments are now on offer, as some treatments don’t even involve teeth!
Today I have been with Tony Clough our local First Aid Trainer for a day of First Aid and a little bit of videoing and taking photographs so people can get an idea of what he does in his sessions – film to follow

- Sunday 25th November 3.00-4.00 pm – FREE adults Funky Jive Session with Katherine at Garforth Methodist Church – Fun, freestyle dance session for adults. This free session will be photographed and some parts will be filmed for promotional and advertising purposes. So please bare this in mind if you are thinking about coming along. As well as getting a free dance session you will also receive a great discount on session booked for January 2019. - Thursday 29th November 10.30-12.30 Christmas Songs and Crafts Social at Augustus Court – Singalong to familiar songs and nursery rhymes, join in with action songs and get busy making and creating different Christmas themed pictures and items with the help of the elderly residents at Augustus Court. Make something together or your little one may want to make something to give to the residents?! Free to attend but a small donation for the craft materials would be greatly appreciated on the day 😊

If you normally follow the blog you will know I was never in favour of this coming to Garforth as it creates a destination for people to go, and may detract from the High Street, especially good old, 100 year old businesses like Pease. However, there is one good thing it has brought, 40 new jobs, I only hope most of these are given to local people
