We’ve already had a taste of spring with a wonderful half term of sunshine, as much as it’s nice to have sun on your face and an ice cream in February, it is also a little worrying to learn that we had the hottest day in February, ever recorded. it’s our generation that can make the good changes, now.
I feel like I have been to 100 meetings this week – it’s catch up time for having half term off.
From Parents evening, new members, potential new members, ideas and project meetings and current projects, and a little time to myself this week; I took my face to Jo Baker and had a facial – she works wonders and I always feel really de-stressed afterwards. I’m not sure if it’s the facial or the constant laughing we do, either way, it was good to have some me time.
Meeting week
Best Western Plus, Milford Hotel with the lovely Ammie. Ammie wants to work more with our community. We were having lots of ideas about local businesses, seeing if local business could help them too, cross marketing ideas, and how we would also love them to come to the Feastival this year as they make their own ice cream. So watch this space.
Meeting with Jo Baranelli from Station House Cafe and a very interesting and cool character, Simon Fogle (no he’s not Ben’s brother) he is a very cool guy who I could have spoken to all day. Simon runs a company called Chapter 81 in Leeds, he arranges food festivals in lots of areas across West Yorkshire. We wanted to pick his brains about the possibilities of an international food festival here in Garforth – now this is definitely a space you want to watch
Helen Cooper from Tropic came round for a brew too, talking more about her full time role as a Tropic Ambassador in our area and how she wants to grow this into a super business and helping other local people to grow her team – we should have more news on this soon.
I was back with Augustus Court this week, as they have a management turn around it was good to find out what has been going on and how can I help get the positive and the good out there about this wonderful care home we have on our doorstep. They have recently just undergone their annual CQC test (a it like having OFSTED in) and they came out as a ‘good’ care home. It is also nice to see and hear they are working even more on the well-being of their residents, not only activities and physical aspects but also healthy minds. They do so much in the care home already, but we want to engage the community into the home more, so we will soon be able to share those plans very soon, so watch this space. The door is always open at Augustus Care Home, just go in and they will be very helpful to tend to your needs, even if you just want to look around
Andy from AJT Heating and Plumping will soon be joining us as a new member, it was lovely to meet him in Cielo this week and it will be great to be able to recommend a safe Gas and heating engineer, which is what people ask me a lot about and up until now, I haven’t had anyone to recommend. Details following soon on Andy and all the aspects to his local company.
Another Feastival meeting – food and drinks at this one, always a plus. The Feastival page now has an Instagram page, under gcfeastival go find and follow and keep updated with our daily news and updates on stalls and great things happening in the lead up to the 13th July. This year we are doing our best to be plastic free on all stalls.
I met the lovely, Julia Cranston and her Cakes and bakes, who just by chance had some wonderful cakes she had baked when I had arrived, her house smelt amazing and well, the picture sells it all. Julia makes Gluten Free cakes and bakes as well as vegan cakes too check out her page on my link, Food to buy and take away.
Well the voting is over for the Yorkshire Choice Awards, thank you so very much for all of you who have voted for my two awards, fingers crossed for the 6th April when I will find out if I’m a deserving winner – Need a posh frock now!

- Saturday 2nd –At The Gaping Goose Charity Day for Breast Cancer – Lots of great stalls and a raffle as well and some really great prizes to be won, there really are. Holiday cottages and a pedego electric bike to name a few and Luke Flear will also be there singing and supporting this great day for charity.
- Saturday 2nd – Sticks and Stones will be Live at Kippax WMC from 8.00pm – if you have not heard these lads go and have a local night out and a sing along as they play red hot chilli peppers, nirvana, green day, Jimi Hendrix and a fair few of their own songs too
- Sunday 3rd and Tuesday 5th March at The Gaping Goose– Pub Quiz at The night from 9pm always every week
- Wednesday 6th at The Podger Pub Quiz from 9.30pm
- Thursday 7th – Weekly Spiritual Development open circle at The Gaping Goose from 7.30pm with Sue Carrol, our local Physic Medium – anyone can go along

Two new road signs no up on the Redrow Estate, I remember one being Skipton Lane – I wonder how long it will take for people to moan on other pages how it’s not garforth related ! #youknowhowpeopleare
I see there had been letters posted through some doors; I guess to the properties that maybe affected, Re; Plans for a campsite on the land at Cliff Top Park, Garforth – there was a residents meeting on the 19th February and I hope people went. I only just found about it after the meeting! Anyway, you can read the letter and see their proposed plans –
It comes to something when building two new housing estates isn’t enough, now they want people to camp out, are we truly that popular?
