I’m not sure what’s been more in the news this week, baby Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor or Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win – whatever the news, good news is always something we should celebrate, the things that make us smile, cheer, and talk about; but just so you know, just because I was born on the Wirral, I didn’t come out of the womb wearing red or blue….. Is Ian Rush still playing? #clueless
Well last Friday’s TDY looked amazing; as I watched on twitter from the comfort of an A&E Chair in Pontefract….. it really wasn’t planned that way! If you have boys, you will understand they are built to scare the living day lights out of you, let’s just say, youngest #thomboy had an argument with a lunch trolley, luckily, nothing broken #thankthelord but it meant, we missed all of TDY and we just about scraped through the roads closing in Pontefract! I hope one day we will get it back again. Just a pity the important bits coming through Kippax and Garforth were not shown on ITV4…. Oops!
A great local business raffle
The Garforth Feastival Team, have come up with a great local business raffle, it will help with our campaign to use less plastics this year and you, as a business are in with a chance of having your company logo on hundreds of tote bags – HOW TO:
Exciting news!
You may have read in other blogs, my enthusiasm for Garforth premises and trying to get someone in one, I have been trying to get an independent business in to sell great things and do great things, and over the past 18 months, we’ve been so close, and then the premises have either been taken by someone else or they just haven’t been quite right, But now I can happily say, we have found somewhere, for something new, and something we don’t have and of course, independent – more news and a launch will happen in June #watchthisspace #happyskip
On the downside, we may also see another large chain store moving in to work with another already existing chain store. Details not out in the open yet, as soon as they are, I will be sharing and my eyes will rolling to the ceiling – the balance is tipping to much to the chains!
My annual membership is just for renewal, for my Garforth in Bloom tub, it only costs be £40 a year – have a look and see how you can, ‘Brighten our community’ too. You don’t have to be a business, you can also be a Friend of Garforth in Bloom for just £5 a year – every little helps http://www.garforthinbloom.org.uk/
Have you been watching?
The fabulous series, Dementia Choir on BBC with Vicky McClure (not H from Line of Duty) you will see the great impact it is having on people with early, onset dementia as well as people who have been suffering for many years, it’s a very heart warming, sad but joyful programme to watch – it proves in so many ways how singing can help, with confidence, concentration, happiness and overall a really feel good place people want to be. If it’s something you’re interested in or know of someone, please look into our local choir, they are such a lovely family and welcome ALL people with open arms
