There have been better weeks!
So, it just goes to prove, you need to stay away from people that are not in your immediate family! I am not the Covid Police Squad, nor am I a person that tells others what to do, but I am a person who influences the good things that go on locally, so I feel I can mention that we’re still seeing groups of kids hanging around, together as well as children who live on the same street, playing with each other in gardens – It really has to stop, these are not holidays or time out days, these are days where your actions could change the life of another – I was in one of my favourite shops the other day, on my own, a lovely lady and her daughter waited outside until I collected my shopping; the shop is small and she was adhering to social distancing. This little old chap, definitely in his late 80’s comes strolling in, stands right next to me browsing his choice, luckily I had packed my goods and ran… If he wasn’t as old, I may have said something, but he was either rude or had no care for me, or himself. It’s sad when people are doing their bit, but others couldn’t really care. We move on to the good because there’s always a positive in a negative. PEOPLE can be wonderful, As mentioned over social media and last weeks blog, our little street community has really come together, talking, chatting, helping and all from a distance, our Whatsapp group has been helpful, engaging, fun, and we’re communicating with our neighbours more, if not for the first time for some, it truly wonderful. One of our neighbours is Lynette, aka ‘Rainbow Lyn’ as she has lots of colours in her hair. As Lyn is part of Garforth Community Choir and, has an amazing voice and, a lot more courage than most of us, I asked if she would start street singing, meaning come outside her drive and start singing, see if people would join in if she did it every night. With no real surprise, Lyn took it a step further and sings all down the street from the top to the bottom, with her music playing on her device and singing her healthy lungs out, just for us. See the short video she was singing last night from the film, Hakuna Matata, dressed up and keeping safe. Leeds-list have seen her video shared by another and want to share on their, good stories page – bless, what singing can do for others. Now we wait in anticipation for Lyn to come out every night and sing, tonight is Happy by Pharrell Williams, I’m so excited as people stand at their doors and dance away, enjoying some switch off.

Obviously, there’s not much to report this week, it’s not as though I have been meeting people, talking work and having coffee; we will be back. But we have certainly been, as a family making sure we exercise more, connect more, do more things together, I have been engrossed in my old hobby of baking, and I have enjoyed every minute of it; not sure my body will think the same in a months time!
There is a lot of work being shared out there for homeschooling, but I want to share the fun stuff
Bake a cake, feed the birds, make a birdbath, a hedgehog home, a bug hotel ready for spring, do a treasure hunt inside (surprise is food) make a mud pie, play board games, make a game, get out the cards, make someone a card saying something nice on it and post it (paper not cardboard and wash your hands)
