Happy Fathers Day for Sunday

What plans do you have for your Dad or Hubby?  Unless your kids are much older, and they plan themselves;  with a sharp poke from you, what are you doing?  We have arranged for a ploughman’s lunch to be delivered, by the lovely Zest Kitchen   I’m lucky I only have the Husband to sort out, my Father died some years back… no, don’t be sad,  he’s not missed!    There are lots of great offers or gifts and food ideas popping up if you’re not quite organised.  Keep checking our website as we update regularly with what is on offer from our local businesses.  Dumouchel, Quirky Ales, The Gin Shack, Pride & Produce, Freshly Made Cafe – great breakfasts or perhaps vouchers for one of our closed businesses that are soon to open?

Schools back for summer… oh no, September!

BOJO announces in today’s briefing, it’s his intention that all children should be back in school by September! and we could see a change from the 2 metres to 1-metre rule shortly – I’ve limited myself and my family from doing anything too different because the virus hasn’t gone! But on my walks with Winston, I have seen many groups who only use a 2-inch rule, and have been doing so for many weeks, and also reading people still asking about,  if the guidelines apply to them so they keep asking and doing what they like.  I love the hot tub parties, they sound amazing! EYESTOTHECEILING  I’m still holding out for July before I do anything majorly different.  Even though I did attend Garforth Medical Centre this week and came out with the oldest Thomboy diagnosed with Shingles, it felt like a day out… It’s all fun and games and kind of weird that I too at 14, had Shingles. He’s been really lucky though, he’s not in any pain and I think he’s managed to get away with just a rash that is already no longer contagious. I hope his recovery continues in this positive way as he’s playing The Lockdown gig on Sunday – 4 kids, 1 garden, 2-metre ruling – see details below

Lots of ideas

Being raised in the media this week, ‘how would it be possible to get children back to education, for now.’  Could Schools use other buildings, outside of school, Leisure Centres, halls etc.. could we use retired teachers or supply? Could/should we be using Zoom more for online classes, or online with a small group of children who may be struggling?  All these are ideas and ones being bandied about – some may seem mad, expensive and perhaps not a crazy bat idea, what do you think? – They have to be safe and work for everyone ideas – I’m not sure what’s easier, sort a few issues out now or wait until all the kids are back and have the poor teachers trying to sorry out the children who really need a lot of work to get them back where they need to be!

More open -The Primark queues baffled me!

As we saw this week, many more shops opened,  we have also seen businesses still trying to work out the guidelines as to what is allowed and what isn’t  – Here’s my take  https://www.facebook.com/themaindeal/videos/1947798545364119/

Another Lockdown sessions on Fathers Day on Sunday at 8.00 pm – Sticks and Stones are back playing together, safely in a grade, 2 meters away – They will be playing for about 40 minutes, so have a listen and if you live near Wakefield Road, you may be able to hear them anyway – here’s the link ready for Sunday https://www.facebook.com/The-Lockdown-Venue-2020-114179240274210/

Happy Fathers Day and enjoy your weekend – another week over
