Summer holidays!
Really? Does it not feel like it’s been one long summer holiday already? Kids breaking up for 7 and half more weeks. Who are the people carrying on the homework? I know we are, well for at least a few more weeks as it keeps some structure in the house when we are still working. A few weeks off here in there to sort out day trips to places where there are not many people about! It’s going to be a very strange summer holidays, now we have seen more restrictions lifted. I know where we won’t be going, so it’s time to work out where we can go, safely.
We had a lovely trip last Sunday to Ian’s mobile, Nanny Goat Farm. Just 5 of us. Myself and the youngest Thom boy with a friend and her 2 children, with the social distancing of course. It felt like we were in a film set on Babe the Pig, so many animals to stroke, scratch, hug and comb. Very good for mindfulness. All the animals have names too, my favourite had to be Oliver the sheep who just kept following us about, move over Shaun the Sheep, Oliver is the real thing. They have approximately 150 animals at the farm, and you feel very safe. Go book on, we highly recommend it and it’s only in Aberford https://www.facebook.com/iansfarm/

News released today, facial treatments will be able to resume from the 1st August! Well, I couldn’t see how it was possible that you could trim a beard but couldn’t wax a chin for long!, But then again, from this week, we will have to go into shops, that have already adhered to social distance markings for a few weeks and wear a mask, but then you can take it off to go into a pub! No wonder people are confused. To be honest, I will be glad to be able to have my dermaplaning treatment done, I’m starting to look like Teenwolf!
Great to hear through social media that, The Assembly will still be setting up their bottle shop, cafe and bar in Garforth – yippee another great independent and a wonderful place to be

We still have a little way to go before we can announce any specifics but one thing we can share is who will be in residency in the first of three kitchens at Caboose….SausageBox International 🌭😍Run by Dan and Felicity (that would be me and my wife 😄) they’ve been serving gourmet and speciality sausage for 5 years around Leeds. Their Yorkshire sausages are from Sykes House Farm Ltd and all their rolls are baked right here in Garforth from Dumouchel Patisserie Since Covid showed up they’ve been doing lockdown takeaway and it seems that Kippax, Garforth and the surrounding area love a bit of sausage!!

Planning for the new car park at the top of the main street should be in any time soon – please support this, we all moan about parking in Garforth, so now will be the time to support the solution – I will keep you posted when it is up so you can input your comments of support.
Every Friday we treat ourselves to food from one of our local independents. Today, we had lunch from Pride and Produce, 2 Buddha Bowls and a cheese, ham and pickle sandwich – OMG, these were amazing, I shared it all out between the four of us, there was plenty and it was so unbelievably delicious, they make salads taste amazing – pop into the shop from Thursday to Saturday, pick up something scrummy; I only wish I’d picked up that big piece of marmalade cake! I also stopped in at, Mr Wilsons and purchase a big box of sweets for our film night, tonight – I know, I’m great and I will be loved….. and fat!
From the 1st August through to the 7th September the BLOG will be taking a break, which is something I do every summer holidays. Hopefully, there will be lots to tell when I return, and schools are back, in a weird, time changing bubble!
