NB. An extra hour only applies if you have older children, otherwise is means you’re just getting up unnecessarily early!
Half Term or is it?
Who’s ready for this week? I don’t know about you, and can’t believe I’m going to say this, but i’m actually ready for the THOMBOYS to be home for a week – or could it be two? I think we should send a big thank you to the schools for doing their best and keeping schools open, safely and managing to keep many children in school for a full term. I know this has not been easy and we know, that many school bubbles have had to come home again to isolate, but the majority of children have been able to stay in school, so big hats off. I know a few teachers locally, and they are all so tired; yes, more than usual – have a good week off, or two should they decide two… we’ll just have to watch this space
I spoke to soon
When the Thomboys went back in September I was so glad to get back in my office, full time. However, as the husband is still working from home, it made more sense that he went back to using my office full time, he is literally in conference call city every day. My office is quiet and away from the noise of the house, so I was kind enough to hand it back over; oh, don’t worry, he owes me many favours. So, I have been resigned to the man cave… nerf war anyone?
Fashion
Is it an age thing? We are truly seeing the 90’s fashion trend return, from oversized coats, trousers and now the THONG, yes you heard it here first, the thong is making a return, and it’s purposefully being exposed over and out of clothing, not like back in the 90’s when larger than average bottoms just let them slip!…. Now I am not a fashionista, nor do I follow trends, or buy designer; I’m not a fan of telling the person I’m with how much I paid for my clothes. However, some of the items I’m seeing, give me the surprised emoji look, or is this just a sign of getting old? Are you wearing anything new and on trend? Or joggy bottoms (which I believe are in short supply) so many people still working from home wearing shirts and blouses for zoom calls, and whatever is comfortable down below!
Leeds Night Lights on until Saturday 24th October
If you are one to normally enjoy, Octobers Leeds Light Night, in town and feel you’re really missing out this year, on yet another great event, you can participate online and have a go at controlling the laser light show – to get them over Garforth, pick Bridgewater Place https://whatson.leeds.gov.uk/lightnight/all-events/laser-light-city
We had a go last night, it was really good fun, a turn only lasts a short time, but you can keep joining the queue, so we had a few goes.
Halloween
Over the last few blogs, I have mentioned the events going on in the lead up to Halloween on, Saturday 31st, keep your eye on social media and our pages as we share more information as it comes out. Bren Nevison’s Art, Boredom Busters is back for one night on 27th at 6.00pm Facebook Live. It will be great fun and you will know, if you tuned in on his regular weekly slots in lockdown. There’s also some great local prize giveaways to be had.
Lotherton Hall have their annual Halloween trail on all over half term
Pay a visit to Bert’s Barrow too, to pick up a pumpkin and stay to do some carving and buy some local produce

Planning – Gas Works
“We have been advised of some major gas works going on around Lidgett Lane for two weeks commencing on 24.10.20. It is highly likely that these works will cause considerable disruption and will cause parking restrictions for the duration outside of Garforth Academy. There will be a diversion route in place as the road will be closed at the Lidgett Lane / Selby Road junction. “
I’m off for half term next week, so my Vlog and Blog will be back week commencing 2nd November unless they, for whatever reason, decide half term needs another week!
