World Kindness Day
We shouldn’t really just have a day, we should be kind every day, if anything, this year has taught us how we need to be more kind, to everyone! On this note…., it has come to my attention that we have 5, yes 5 Garforth Gossip pages – It turns out, some pages are monitored, so not everyone can say what they like.. others then feel they ‘have to’ create another page! I’m baffled people have to create more gossip, to create a thread of generally speculative information to discuss with people they don’t even know.
Are we that bored? Is it something covid has created? Do we seriously need so many opinions on the place we chose to live? Does it make people feel better they have been able to air their views because of freedom of speech?
I shake my head and raise my brows when all is so much more difficult this year, it’s deemed necessary to create a place to voice our dislikes; because let’s face it, these pages aren’t created to be a positive platform with the word GOSSIP in them. The word CREATE stands out quite a bit, doesn’t it?
It’s been another quick week, I feel I wake up groaning that it’s Monday, then I blink and it’s Friday! Do you think someone is making the time go quickly so we can get out of 2020? I hope that the 2nd of December comes quickly, and fingers crossed that businesses can open. It’s going to be a tough Christmas with the chances of it being a quieter family affair, so shops need to open so people can buy gifts they want to send; not everyone is online. I find that Silver surfers, like surfing but do not have the confidence to necessarily buy online, I think it’s their lack of trust handing over card details to a company they can’t see, even if it’s a brand they know. This is a generation of people who have not grown up with online shopping as the norm. However, we have seen a change for many, as some of this generation have had to learn to shop online if they have been isolating. I know my Mother-in-Law, tried ‘the online thing’ with her neighbour, one delivery, two orders, I was proud of her, but perhaps the stress of ordering the right Tonic to go with her Gin was a bit of a head in hand moment; as they both looked online to find the right Fever-Tree, which took 45 minutes (“just order the plain tonic,” I shouted from 102 miles away) It’s a start!
