I’d love to say, Happy New Year, but the word happy isn’t so.  So let’s say, ‘have a better, perhaps after spring new year!’

It’s been such a hard 10 months so far, in and out, open and closed, it’s almost like a new version of the hokey cokey!  But it has to get better, right?  We’re not in world war II where it went on for 6 years, we’re not rationing, and our houses are still standing, it’s not about being stuck in, it’s about keeping safe inside.  I know the weather isn’t sunny this time around, like back in April and May, when we could use our gardens as extra rooms, but we’re cosy inside, and as the snow falls this weekend, let’s hope it’s good enough for the kids to be able to get out and have some fun… fun is what we need as our kids have also worked really hard this week online.  To make these cosy days and nights feel even better, I suggest you look into something I try and do each winter, look up Hygge;   It’s about a feeling, and a good feeling is what we all need.  There is a couple of lovely books I bought some years ago, which are great reads;

The little book of Hygge (the danish way of live well) and The little book of Lykke (the Danish Search for the world’s happiest people)

Main Street is busy….

So several people have posted, on different social media platforms a complaint!  Now as many of you know me, I tend to see things differently than most.
Essential shops/businesses, as well as food and drink businesses, can stay open, it’s actually great that people have decided to buy these items from our independents on Main Street, they, like me also must see the benefits of keeping these businesses alive.  The fact that many of our smaller shops only allow so many in their premises at any one time, it may also be more comforting for some people, especially our elderly, which I am hearing are the main people out and about, so for them, they might prefer this over a really busy supermarket with a fair amount of people in, inside.  Main Street may also seem busy as when the allocated number of people are in shops, the rest will have to wait outside, in the fresh air, which, as we know, is better to be outside at the minute than inside with lots of strangers; not seen any posts about people complaining how busy the local Tesco’s is, you know where you can go and clean your trolley but many don’t!
So be mindful of how people are shopping, if it’s local, it’s maybe because it’s safer, easier and much quicker too!

And here’s what I had to say on Wednesdays Vlog, https://www.instagram.com/tv/CJtApKbHvuy/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

VACCINE

Many people have been asking the question, ‘when will Garforth medical centers get the vaccine, when will I get the call?’   If you follow Garforth News and Events or the local Councillors pages on Facebook, they are giving the most updated information as soon as it comes in.  I share this, along with all posts from Garforth Medical Centre to keep you up to date as much as possible  – yes we all want the vaccine, we all want to get on with our lives.  But we will hear when it’s our time.  I think mine is probably due in 2022!

Planning

I see lots of applications are in for houses requiring extensions, many office spaces now needed, its easier to add then move.
