Wow, what a week, I can’t say its been joyful! With remote learning, working, and doing all the stuff that just happens; you know, by the magic fairy that lives in the house, it’s difficult! If you’re on any social media platforms for your school year, they can be very helpful, especially catching up or finding out about things for learning online. However, there’s always a ‘few’ parents doing better than what you feel you are, and they like to make it heard,.. Please be mindful of other parents, and what they are having to do at home with their families, it may be more challenging for some.
So when yesterday brought the snow, it was very much welcomed, It was especially great to go out with permission from the teachers too… Snow is the one thing that can cause so much chaos, yet so many smiles. It was nice to do a resistant walk up Gypsy Lane as the snow was so deep, fun for the little legs, the dog, and the Thomboys…. Gypsy Lane is just off Severn Drive heading up the track to the garden centre. As the story goes, it was called Gyspy Lane as many years ago, gypsies settled on this track for quite some time, there is more to the story and, If you like a bit of history, there is so much to find on google. We have some great people who have taken and collected lots of information and many old photographs of Garforth, so it’s worth a little look… if you have time that is. I find hiding away in the toilet can be useful!
The Blogs may not be as long as usual, but I’m doing what I have time to do until we’re back to being quiet in the house, which means children back in school, and not having to juggle, what feels like the world on your shoulders. I have questioned myself lots over the past 10 months about running a business, being more flexible, driving the business how I want with nobody directing or micro-managing, but I have to say during this time, I have wondered if I should just give it all up and concentrate on my family alone as the stress of it all when you have children at home, and also trying to work, is some days, just too much. What keeps me going is the help others need too, some businesses are suffering much more and their overheads are huge, some have been able to get help and some have not, it’s so tough. I have had some people sobbing on the phone over this time, wondering when life will return for them just to work and get their lives back on track, and it’s this that keeps me going and the reason I did all this in the first place, to help people, no matter what circumstance we’re in.
Some good news
It’s been reported today, that Covid cases are falling in our region, in all ages except the over 80’s; so we are doing better, but we need to look after our vulnerable grandparents so they are all here when we return to life.
Garforth Neighbourhood Plan
Some of you may have received the leaflet through the door from Garforth Neighborhood Plan, Presubmission consultation. http://www.garforthplan.co.uk This is put together by a local volunteer group that really works hard creating a plan for a sustainable future in Garforth. It’s worth a read through, the online document is lengthy, but it’s good to trawl through the information. You may be interested to read, how it may affect you.
Planning
A planning application is in for another restaurant, which will take on Lasercharges old, but huge building – details are a bit vague. It does indicate the person putting in the application has other businesses of the same model in and around Leeds – so watch this space until there is more information I can find out.
