Besides it being the last time England won the Euros, these things also happened:
- Astroturf was invented.
- ‘I can’t get no, satisfaction’ by the Rolling Stones was the top song.
- The Sound of Music and Doctor Zhivago were the top films.
- The world population was 3,330,000,000.
- The game, Operation was put out on shelves.
- London was officially declared the ‘Swinging City’
Imagine if we did win, we leave Europe and take our ball home! Good luck for Sunday lads, I’m really looking forward to shouting at the TV again like I’m the knowledgeable one.
Whats’ On

Support the local Artists and use the local shops all at the same time. Next Saturday, 17th July we will see Kirsty Bedford Art, as well as Jenny from The Last Supper Co., Eat, and Art to take home!
Teachers Gifts
Before long, the kids will leave another school year (not because of isolation) and we will be back on summer holidays’ don’t the years go fast! keep your eyes on our social media pages and our Garforth news page as we share lots of ideas and things on offer for teacher gifts, should you want to buy something nice. Fingers crossed for a good September start, the Thomboys will be going into their first year and the last year of secondary school… I’m really hoping for a good year for both of them, a good staying in school year!
Planning
- 21 houses in planning.
I’m not usually one for missing out on things, but I was a bit delayed seeing this in Planning. There is an application to build 21 homes off Aberford Road, on green space. Here is the link to have your say. There have been many objections and the likes of Sport England are also opposing the idea of using green land.
